Project Manager II- ConstructionSanta Clara, California, United StatesPosition OverviewA well-established national construction firm is seeking an experienced Project Manager II to oversee moderately complex construction projects or key portions of large-scale builds. This role is responsible for managing project execution from preconstruction through closeout while ensuring projects stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality and safety expectations. This position offers a hybrid schedule with one remote workday per week and currently has two openings available.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and promote jobsite safety initiatives while supporting an injury-free work environmentInvestigate safety incidents and implement corrective actions when neededManage project startup processes and preconstruction planning activitiesSupport estimating efforts including quantity takeoffs, bid coordination, scope development, and bid package preparationOversee subcontractor bidding, scope review, pricing validation, and contract issuanceManage project submittals, shop drawings, and material approvalsCoordinate procurement of materials and equipment with internal teams and vendorsPartner with risk management to evaluate subcontractor qualifications and bonding requirementsServe as the primary point of coordination between subcontractors, owners, architects, engineers, vendors, and internal teamsReview pricing for project changes and prepare change order documentationLead project meetings including progress updates and owner/architect meetingsManage owner billing and subcontractor payment applicationsDevelop and maintain project schedules alongside field leadershipIdentify scheduling risks and implement mitigation plansMaintain documentation related to budgets, schedules, contracts, safety, and qualityPrepare financial forecasts and monitor project profitabilityLead project closeout activities including punch lists, warranties, and final financial reconciliationSupport legal coordination when contract issues ariseManage multiple project components and ensure operational efficiency across all phasesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related fieldEquivalent industry experience may be considered in place of formal education7+ years of construction project management experiencePrevious leadership or management experience requiredStrong understanding of construction operations, scheduling, budgeting, and project executionValid and unrestricted driver's licensePreferred QualificationsExperience managing moderately complex commercial construction projectsStrong background in financial forecasting and cost controlExperience working with preconstruction and estimating teamsFamiliarity with Lean construction practicesAbility to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teamsKey Skills RequiredProject ManagementCost ControlConstruction SchedulingBudget ForecastingContract AdministrationRisk ManagementVendor/Subcontractor CoordinationCommunication & LeadershipWork Environment & TravelHybrid schedule: 1 work-from-home day per weekOccasional travel may be requiredMay require relocation based on project assignmentMust be willing to work flexible or non-traditional hours as project needs demandWork may take place in both office settings and active construction sitesAbility to lift up to 25 pounds may be requiredBenefitsComprehensive benefits packageFull-time employment stabilityInterview travel reimbursement availableWhy This Location?Santa Clara offers access to major tech hubs, excellent dining options, outdoor recreation, and year-round mild weather.
