We offer company events, activities, and opportunities to participate in charitable initiatives that benefit the communities where we are located.What you'll doOverall leadership responsibility for quality execution of projects maximizing contract value consistent with company financial, strategic and program objectivesAct as focal point for all communications with the customer during project executionDirect internal company resources in a leadership role as part of the project team consisting of Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Financial Controlling personnel / departmentsDemonstrate ability to successfully meet project objectives and fully understand scope which is accomplished by involving other SMS group organizations, management, and consortium members and assure work is performed according to the SMS group project management guidelinesPrepares plans including schedules, personnel requirements, and budgetsMonitors project performance against plans and objectives, analyzes results, prepares project status reports including recommendations and action plans to improve resultsOverall responsibility for activities related to scope change negotiations, timely invoicing, and project closeoutAnalyze financial dataAbility to travel extensively both domestically and abroad as project requiresWork with other project managers/product specialists to develop project budgets, scope, and manpower allocationOversee procurement of materials for projects, develop inspection documentation, and source from outside vendorsWhat you'll needBachelor's degree in engineering/science/management discipline preferred with 3+ years of experienceAbove education requirement may be offset with 5+ years of prior experienceAdditional preferred education / training / certification: MBA, PMI certification (or equivalent)Experience in a Project Management position and knowledge of common project management procedures is preferredExperience requirements may be partially replaced by verifiable experience as a Project Engineer, Contract Administrator, or other related functionsGood communication skills that will allow you to work well with customers, vendors, and other SMS group employeesWhat we offerCompetitive compensation, medical/dental/vision coverage, paid vacation, paid holiday time, 401k with a company match, training, a tuition reimbursement program and more!SMS group is the leading partner in the world of metals.
