Project Manager (Civil PE)Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced Project Manager (Civil PE) to join our Boston, MA office. This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys leading multidisciplinary teams while remaining engaged in the technical delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and civil infrastructure projects. As a Project Manager, you'll oversee projects from planning through construction, serving as the primary point of contact for clients while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Tetra Tech's high standards of quality.Our Boston team partners with municipalities and utility clients throughout New England and across the U.S., delivering innovative solutions for water and wastewater treatment, conveyance systems, stormwater management, pump stations, and site infrastructure.The Project Manager (Civil PE) is responsible for leading the planning, design, and execution of municipal water, wastewater, and civil infrastructure projects.

This role provides technical leadership while managing project scope, budgets, schedules, client relationships, and multidisciplinary project teams. The Project Manager serves as a trusted advisor to clients and mentors junior engineers while helping grow Tetra Tech's presence throughout the region.Essential functions include managing municipal water, wastewater, and civil infrastructure projects from proposal through design, construction, and project closeout; serving as the primary client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships while ensuring client satisfaction; leading multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and instrumentation disciplines; developing project scopes, work plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans while monitoring financial performance and project profitability; providing technical oversight for the planning and design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, conveyance systems, pump stations, stormwater infrastructure, and related civil projects; reviewing engineering calculations, construction documents, technical specifications, reports, and cost estimates to ensure quality and consistency; leading project meetings and coordinating with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution; overseeing construction administration activities, including contractor submittal reviews, RFIs, change orders, field observations, and project documentation; mentoring and developing junior engineers and technical staff through project assignments and technical guidance; and supporting business development by preparing proposals, participating in interviews, identifying new opportunities, and expanding existing client relationships.Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, a Professional Engineer (PE) license, 5+ years of relevant experience in civil infrastructure or water/wastewater projects, a strong technical background in one or more of the following: site grading, utilities, hydraulics, treatment processes, or stormwater systems, proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; familiarity with Revit, InfoWater/InfoWorks, or similar tools is a plus, solid written and verbal communication skills, a valid driver's license and ability to travel (~15%) to project sites and client meetings.Physical requirements include the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer and performing design tasks; frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and engineering software; ability to read, analyze, and interpret detailed engineering drawings, plans, and specifications; ability to stand, walk, and navigate active project or construction sites during field visits; ability to occasionally lift or carry light materials (up to 25 pounds) such as field equipment or documents; visual acuity to review technical data, drawings, and digital models; ability to travel to project sites and perform fieldwork activities as needed.Work environment/environmental factors include a hybrid office environment with a combination of in-office and field-based work; work performed primarily in a professional office setting with standard engineering tools and software; periodic site visits to construction sites, treatment facilities, or outdoor environments; exposure to varying weather conditions during fieldwork; potential exposure to construction-related conditions including noise, dust, and uneven terrain; use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required during site visits; fast-paced, project-driven environment with multiple deadlines and priorities; collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across offices and geographic regions.Life at Tetra Tech includes comprehensive and market-competitive benefits, merit-based financial rewards, flexibility and company-wide commitment to work/life balance, a collaborative team atmosphere that values the contributions of all employees, learning and development opportunities for ongoing professional growth.Salary: $120,000 to $145,500 dependent on experience.About Tetra Tech: Tetra Tech is the leader in water, environment, and sustainable infrastructure, providing high-end consulting and engineering services for projects worldwide.
