Project Manager 3

This contract position provides oversight, leadership, accountability, and project management functions for large strategic and complex projects supporting the Department of Information, Technology, and Budget (DTMB-MB) with high visibility at the Agency Executive level. These projects typically involve a large and diverse set of stakeholders, vendor participation, coordination of multiple parties, complex schedules, and significant integration with other systems. The role requires advanced experience managing complex projects, a significant degree of creativity, and considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This is a 12+ month contract role based in Lansing, Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and leadership for large strategic and complex IT projects
• Manage project accountability and ensure alignment with Agency Executive priorities
• Coordinate multiple stakeholders, including vendors and internal teams
• Develop and maintain complex project schedules and timelines
• Manage project scope, budget, and resource allocation
• Work independently with considerable latitude in decision-making and initiative
• Oversee vendor participation and manage vendor relationships throughout project lifecycle
• Ensure integration with other systems and cross-functional coordination

Qualifications

• Required
  • Minimum of six years of professional experience as a project manager for IT software or infrastructure projects involving 50 or more team members
  • Advanced experience managing Agile projects
  • Advanced experience managing scope, schedule, and project budget
  • Advanced experience with vendor management
  • Experience writing or participating in development of Statement of Work (SOW), Request for Proposal (RFP), or contracts
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Preferred
  • PMP Certification
