Project Manager 3 / Construction Project ManagerWe are seeking an experienced Project Manager 3 / Construction Manager to lead and oversee construction project execution at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This role is responsible for the successful delivery of construction projects in a high-hazard nuclear environment, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence. The position requires strong leadership, technical construction expertise, and the ability to manage complex, multidisciplinary teams in a highly regulated setting.Key Responsibilities• Lead and manage all aspects of construction project execution• Provide technical direction and administrative oversight for:Field construction activitiesProject teams and site personnel• Ensure safety and security are fully integrated into all work activities, including stopping work when necessary• Review and manage:Project estimatesBudgets and forecastsSchedules and cost performance• Evaluate:Construction specifications and drawings for constructability and efficiency• Coordinate across:Project ManagementEngineeringProcurementProject Controls• Resolve issues related to:StaffingMaterial deliveryContract/subcontract administration• Support development and review of:Project proceduresOperational controls• Lead project planning activities including:SchedulingResource planningCost estimation• Staff and manage construction site teams, ensuring:PerformanceQualityTechnical adequacy• Monitor field execution and ensure adherence to:ProceduresSafety standards• Serve as a Control Account Manager (CAM) as needed, including:Cost and schedule managementVariance analysisCorrective action planning• Present project updates, performance metrics, and issues to:Senior leadershipFederal sponsors• Foster a respectful, inclusive, and high-performance work environmentMinimum QualificationsEducation & Experience• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field OR• Equivalent combination of education and experience• Typically requires 15+ years of experience in:Project managementConstructionEngineeringProject controls or procurementProject & Program Management• Demonstrated experience managing:Scope, schedule, and budgetChange control and reporting processes• Proven ability to:Lead complex, multidisciplinary teamsDeliver projects under competing deadlines• Experience with:Project planning tools and methodologiesConstruction & Technical Expertise• Extensive knowledge of:Construction operations and qualitySubcontract managementConstruction technologies• Experience in:Constructability reviewsCost and schedule analysis• Familiarity with:Facility construction and maintenance systemsCompliance & Safety• Strong understanding of:Government compliance standardsEnvironmental regulations• Experience working under:Nuclear quality standards (e.g., NQA-1) preferred• Commitment to:Safety and security in high-hazard environmentsLeadership & Communication• Strong leadership and team management skills• Ability to:Coach and mentor staffBuild consensus and resolve conflicts• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Experience presenting to:Senior leadershipFederal stakeholdersDecision Making & Problem Solving• Proven ability to:Identify and mitigate project risksAnalyze complex problems and implement solutions• Experience with:Continuous improvement initiativesRoot cause analysisRequired Qualifications (Deal Breakers)• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance• Must be a U.S.

Citizen (required for clearance eligibility)• Willingness to work:Flexible schedules, including potential 24/7 coverageDesired Qualifications• Experience in:DOE or National Laboratory environmentsNuclear facility construction projects• Background in:High-hazard or secure facility operations• Familiarity with:Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)Control Account Management (CAM)Work Environment & Requirements• 100% onsite at TA-55 (Los Alamos, NM)• Work performed in:Indoor and outdoor environmentsHigh-hazard nuclear facilities• Physical requirements may include:WalkingClimbing stairsKneeling and balancing• Must be able to obtain a Q ClearanceCompensation: $88.00 per hour
