Position Overview
The Project Estimator (Low Voltage) will own the full estimating cycle for electronic security bids, from plan review and takeoff through design, bill of materials, and final quote. Focused primarily on multifamily ground-up construction, this role requires deep Division 28 expertise and the ability to manage multiple concurrent bids in a fast-paced environment. The estimator will be reviewing plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, developing bills of materials (BOMs), and preparing complete estimates and proposals for Electronic Safety & Security projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review architectural, electrical, low-voltage, and security construction drawings for each bid
- Interpret Division 28 Electronic Safety and Security specifications and identify security-related scope
- Review door schedules and hardware schedules to identify access control and security requirements
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs, counting and documenting all security devices (locks, readers, cameras, etc.)
- Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) using the in-house Simpro quote template
- Select appropriate manufacturers, models, accessories, and supporting equipment for a complete installation
- Build detailed project estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and ancillary costs
- Customize project materials, devices, and travel-related expenses (per diem, lodging, parking, and ancillary costs)
- Support bid clarifications, scope reviews, and proposal revisions
- Manage 5–10 active bids simultaneously with new bids arriving daily
