This role involves design calculations, plan and specification preparation, agency coordination, and supporting projects ranging from defined scopes to major phases of larger, more complex efforts.A typical day might include:Planning and designing municipal wastewater treatment and water treatment and distribution systemsDeveloping calculations, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation for water and wastewater facilitiesConceptualizing the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project or leading engineering work for projects of limited scopeCoordinating with internal clients to gather required information and ensure project alignmentScheduling and coordinating engineering tasks while addressing complex or conflicting design requirementsExercising independent judgment to adapt and modify standard engineering techniques and proceduresProviding supervision and mentoring to less experienced engineers and technical support staffSupporting project management efforts and contributing to successful project deliveryRequired education/license/certifications:Bachelor's Degree requiredRegistration as a Licensed Professional EngineerRequired qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate engineering experienceExperience with water and wastewater plant designStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholdersExperience exercising independent judgment in engineering design and problem solvingIdeally, you should also have:Water distribution modeling experiencePrevious project management experienceFamiliarity with North TexasAt LJA, we're 100% employee-owned.
