To learn more about this opportunity, keep reading!Position SummaryThe Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for all technical and engineering aspects on assigned projects.

The successful PE leads a multi-disciplined engineering team and works closely with Program Managers, functional groups, other departments, customers, and subcontractors/vendors, as necessary, to facilitate project completion, while meeting customer requirements.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & System IntegrationServes as the program's technical authority, responsible for overall technical design, system architecture, and hardware/software integrationReviews, approves, and provides technical direction on requirements, specifications, designs, test plans, and technical milestonesEnsures hardware/software integration issues are identified, tracked, and resolved through appropriate corrective actionsOversees engineering release processes to ensure technical integrity, configuration control, and compliance with program requirementsEnsures final delivered products accurately represent the target aircraft platform and meet all contractual and technical requirementsProgram Execution & Engineering CoordinationCoordinates and directs engineering activities across small- and large-scale training device programs within a matrixed organizationIdentifies technical risks, integration challenges, and resource constraints; recommends solutions such as reallocation of resources or technical approach changesCommunicates technical status, schedule impacts, and risk mitigation strategies to Program Management and other stakeholdersProvides engineering support during manufacturing, integration, test, and acceptance phases to ensure timely and compliant program executionParticipates as a presenter or technical reviewer in internal and external program reviewsTeam Leadership & CollaborationBuilds and supports high-performing, multidisciplinary engineering teams through clear technical direction, defined engineering practices, and shared goalsProvides technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to engineers supporting assigned programs or tasksWorks collaboratively with functional engineering groups, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and other departments to support program objectivesLeads engineering coordination in a matrix environment where functional resources are shared across programsCustomer Engagement & Business DevelopmentServes as the program's primary technical representative during in-plant and on-site customer acceptance activities; extended travel may be requiredInterfaces directly with customers, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with program requirementsSupports new business development and proposal efforts by contributing technical expertise, designs, cost inputs, and technical narrativesMay serve as a technical proposal lead on assigned pursuitsRepresents ASI engineering at relevant third-party stakeholder meetings and technical forums as neededSupervisory ResponsibilitiesProvides technical leadership and task direction to engineering personnel within a matrixed organization. May support performance feedback and technical evaluations but does not have direct hire/fire authority unless specifically assigned.RequirementsExperience RequirementsMinimum of 7 years' engineering experience that includes at least 5 years' experience developing complex hardware/software systems (Required) and/or 3 years' experience working on flight-based training/simulation devices (Preferred)Minimum of 3 years' direct experience as a Project Engineer in the unique design requirements and functionality of flight-based training/simulation systems (Preferred)Experience leading and managing engineering teams (Required)Experience working with customers and product managers to identify needs and translate into technical requirements, with a focus on government customers (Required)Strong background in software development (Preferred)Experience with simulator design, development, integration, and testing (Preferred)Experience in the flight simulation industry standards and regulatory requirements (Preferred)Additional Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust be able to effectively lead teams in a matrix environment, where programs must share functional resourcesAbility to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customersAbility to adapt communication style and messaging to different audiencesAbility to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, ensuring stakeholder expectations are managed appropriatelyAbility to work in a project-oriented, fast paced environment to meet deadlinesKnowledge of formal software development practices including the use of software configuration management, coding standards, and style guidesProficiency in common business software (Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Visio, SharePoint)Education RequirementsBachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Software, Computer, Aerospace, Marine, or related discipline) from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.In lieu of a degree in engineering, a combination of equivalent military, aerospace, aviation or industry experience demonstrating progressive technical leadership and system integration expertise may be considered.Advanced degrees (M.S. or higher) in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field are a plus but not required.Employment RequirementsU.S. Citizenship Required: As a federal contractor supporting the U.S. warfighter, it is required that all employees in this role be United States citizens in compliance with government contract and security requirements.Background Check: Must be able to successfully pass an initial background screening.Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.

The selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, as required by the position.Work Schedule Flexibility: Occasional overtime and alternate shifts may be required to meet customer schedules, critical deadlines, or program milestones.Travel Requirements: Must be able and willing to travel domestically and, on occasion, internationally to customer sites, partner locations, or project meetings in support of contract objectives.Drug-Free Workplace: ASI maintains a Drug-Free Workplace.
