Project EngineerAs a key team member, the Project Engineer is responsible for working with their Project Team(s) to plan and coordinate the successful execution of required project documentation, as well as assist the Project Manager in ensuring that the quality, safety, schedule and cost expectations of the project are achieved. The Project Engineer will work with Architects, Consultants, Subcontractors, Clients, and Inspectors to resolve issues in a timely manner. The Project Engineer is expected to provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders.Typical Duties:Project Preparation and Set-upReview project drawings and specifications to learn all aspects of the projectCreate Submittal Register from project specifications and drawingsCollaborate with the Project Manager and Superintendent to conduct a review of project SWPPP requirements, permitting needs, and site logisticsCollaborate with Project Team to prepare and distribute bid packagesCoordinate and prepare Agenda for Subcontractor Pre-Bid MeetingsCollaborate with Project Manager to create and issue Letters of Intent / Subcontract AgreementsRequest all Insurances and Bonds, as required by Prime Contract, from Blach's Risk ManagerCreate Visitor Sign-In, Safety Orientation, QR codesEnsure all new Safety Orientations for all on-coming Subcontractor employeesWork with the Project Assistant to create files and binders as needed to store project recordsCoordinate with Project Assistant/Coordinator and internal Blach departments for the order and set up of project related items such as copiers, drinking water and coffee, phone, and IT servicesProject ConstructionCoordinate with Blach's internal departments to set up project numbers and project information within CMiC and other project-related technologyWork with the Project Team to coordinate and execute Subcontractor Kick-Off MeetingsEnsure receipt of executed Subcontract Agreements, required Certificates of Insurance, Payment & Performance Bonds, Certified Payroll, and Safety documentation as neededCoordinate with the Project Team to ensure fingerprinting requirements are communicated to the Subcontractors and that they have met those requirements prior to starting their scope of workCoordinate with the Project Team to ensure the distribution of required project information, such as pre-lien information, project directories, etc.Collaborate with the Project Team to process Subcontractor and Blach pay applicationsAssist the Project Manager to process, and distribute Potential Change Items, Subcontract Change Orders and Owner Orders as requestedReview and process Requests for Information (RFIs) against ConstructionSet up and lead project meetings, as required.
Coordinate with the Project Team to create and compile various reports and information as needed for project meetingsTake meeting minutes, process, and distribute as requiredReview and submit invoices through CMiC workflowTake regular progress photos and archive electronicallyWork with Project Team to ensure appropriate archiving of project recordsMaintain as-built record drawings and update with applicable RFI/ASI/IBs issued by the ArchitectWork with Blach's Field Teams to resolve issues and address schedule concerns. Walk the site regularly with Superintendent to familiarize yourself with the coordination of tradesAs necessary, assist with training new Project Team Members on Blach processes, procedures, and ideologyProvide on-site support for Subcontractors, Architect, and Inspectors as neededGreet and assist all visitors to the site to ensure Blach visitor and safety policies are metPerform related work as assigned by the Project TeamProject Close-OutCreate close out register from project specifications & drawingsCoordinate with the Project Team to collect all required documents and electronic records of close-out documents in preparation for Owner turnoverFile appropriate documentation to complete project close-out with all governing entitiesComplete internal project closeout verificationCoordinate with the Project Team for all demobilization activitiesSkills/Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related degreeExcellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office)Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skillsExtreme attention to detail, highly organizedProactive, takes initiative, possesses a willingness to learn and develop in their professional careerExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProblem solver, solutions-oriented, creativeLocation: Monterey RegionPosition Status: Full-time, regular business hours, exemptCompensation: Blach Construction offers an outstanding compensation package, including a highly competitive base salary, an initial three weeks of paid vacation (growing to four weeks after five years of service), holidays, and sick leave.
