Project Engineer - Mechanical Or Plumbing DesignMSA is seeking a Project Engineer - Mechanical or Plumbing Design to join our Jacksonville team. In this role, you will lead and support the planning, design, and construction of mechanical and plumbing systems for a variety of building and infrastructure projects. We're genuine co-owners, and this ESOP setup promotes a culture of collaboration and engagement throughout MSA because we all have a direct financial interest as owners." -- Project Engineer Transportation, Cedar Rapids OfficeResponsibilitiesMechanical & Plumbing DesignLead the design and development of mechanical and plumbing systems from planning through constructionPerform and review engineering calculations, studies, reports, design documentation, and construction documentsDevelop construction specifications, cost estimates, and schedules with a focus on accuracy and constructabilityUse Microsoft Office, CADD, BIM, and modeling or analysis tools to produce clear, coordinated design deliverablesProject Delivery & QualityManage assigned technical tasks with minimal oversight while monitoring scope, schedule, and budgetCoordinate deliverables with internal teams, external partners, clients, and technical support staffReview work completed by junior engineers, designers, and technicians for quality, consistency, and alignment with project goalsSupport QA/QC processes and take ownership of technical accuracy across assigned project componentsField & Construction SupportConduct field investigations, site visits, and construction observations to verify existing conditions and support project designReview construction progress, document observations, and help resolve technical challenges in the fieldConfirm that work aligns with plans, specifications, design intent, and applicable standardsClient & Team CollaborationServe as a client contact for assigned tasks or projects, communicating updates with professionalism and sound judgmentLead or co-lead project meetings related to technical updates, deliverables, schedules, and project needsMaintain consistent communication with Project Managers and Team Leaders regarding workload, budgets, schedules, and staffing needsMentor junior staff by reviewing work, providing feedback, and supporting their professional growthQualificationsEducationBachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited program in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering disciplineExperience4+ years of relevant post-graduate engineering experienceExperience in mechanical or plumbing design preferredExperience supporting building and infrastructure projects preferredLicensureProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Florida requiredMulti-state licensure may be beneficial depending on project assignmentsSkillsStrong knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and practices related to mechanical and/or plumbing designProficiency with Microsoft Office, CADD, BIM, and relevant modeling or analysis softwareStrong technical writing, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to lead project components, coordinate multidisciplinary work, and integrate input from multiple stakeholdersStrong organization and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple project demandsAbility to monitor scope, schedule, and budget and proactively identify project needs or concernsEffective mentoring skills and a commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvementWork AuthorizationThe selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.
