Project EngineerOur client in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Project Engineer to support marine construction projects. This role focuses on field coordination, production tracking, safety compliance, and ensuring work is completed efficiently and according to project specifications. The Project Engineer will serve as the communication link between the field and office, support superintendents and foremen, maintain production records, assist with scheduling and materials, and may serve as the SSHO or QC Manager on USACE projects in compliance with EM 385-1-1 requirements.Duties & ResponsibilitiesQuality & Safety Compliance Enforce MSHA, OSHA, Corps of Engineers, and company safety policiesParticipate in and lead safety meetingsMonitor field activities for compliancePrepare and maintain required safety documentationSupport quality standards and ensure work meets project specificationsField Coordination Assist superintendent and foremen with planning and executing daily tasksCoordinate labor, equipment, and materialsCommunicate with Project Manager and quarry operations for material sourcingVerify field conditions and adjust work plans as needed for safety and efficiencyProduction Tracking & Reporting Maintain detailed daily logs of crew activities, production quantities, and equipment usageTrack material quantities and document for paymentMonitor progress against production goals and report variancesSurveying Perform progress surveys to verify installation of workPrepare cross sections and bathymetry mapsSupport project documentation for Project Manager and clientScheduling & Planning Assist in preparing, updating, and maintaining project schedulesIdentify potential delays and help develop corrective actionsOther Duties Provide technical support for layout, surveying, and documentationAssist with project documentation such as as-builts and progress photosAbility to work out of town for extended periods (accommodations provided)Weekend work may be required depending on project needsQualifications & RequirementsMinimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Construction Management, or related fieldMinimum 5 years of combined marine or heavy civil construction experience (Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Superintendent, Construction Manager, or PM roles)Valid California Driver's License meeting company fleet standardsAbility to obtain TWIC credentialProficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and BluebeamStrong construction document control experience (RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress payments, contracts)Preferred Qualifications Experience working on USACE projectsFamiliarity with EM 385-1-1 requirementsCompleted EM 385-1-1 training for SSHO or QC rolesSurveying experience (hydrographic or topographic)Experience with HypackEstimating experience using HeavyBidScheduling experience using Excel, MS Project, and Primavera P6Physical Requirements Ability to walk, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and climb frequentlyAbility to lift 50 lbsAbility to communicate effectivelyAbility to climb in and out of marine equipment
