Project Engineer (Land Development) - Austin, TXIn this role, the Project Engineer provides engineering support to project teams. At this level, this individual is gaining experience and will be able to take on some tasks without supervision. The individual must understand, design and independently prepare technical engineering plans and effectively collaborate with technicians to complete technical design plans.
The project engineer will provide assistance in all technical aspects of projects, conduct engineering research, assessments, and coordinate with private consultants and public agencies.What you will doCarries out tasks assigned by the Project Lead and engineering team.Develops working drawings for civil design plans in AutoCAD Civil 3D (grading, drainage, utility, stormwater management and street frontage improvements) from sketches.Uses engineering judgment to perform duties and knows when to ask questions, seek assistance or perform independent research.Manages personal time allotted to various tasks in order to meet obligations of one or more projects, including budget, quality and schedule.Provide accurate design of on-site and off-site improvements for the planning and construction of commercial, industrial, and/or high-density residential projects that are ready for construction.Can provide accurate design of grading, drainage, utilities and stormwater treatment with minimal input from engineer of record.Performs civil engineering calculations, SWPPP's and other engineering reports.Effectively interacts with peers, clients, and sub-consultants.What you haveBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent level of experience Graduates are welcome to apply)0-5 years of experience in land developmentEngineering in training (EIT) or scheduled to sit for exam is preferredGeneral knowledge of computers, Microsoft office, Adobe, Internet applications, etc.Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam, preferredAdditional software experience a plus, e.g., Agtek, Hydrology/Hydraulic SoftwarePhysical Requirements and/or Working ConditionsProlonged periods of sitting (up to 8 hours a day for office staff)Interacting with technology (computer, cellphone, etc.)Ability to lift and/or carry items (up to 20 lbs.)Prolonged periods of standing/walking (field checks)Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (field checks)Occasional travel e.g. driving to offices, jobsites, client meetings, etc.Why Join Us?Competitive Pay ($75,000 - $104,000 DOE, location, + work model i.e., remote, hybrid or in-office)Medical, Dental and Vision 100% paid for by Kier & Wright401k and profit sharingPaid HolidaysGenerous PTOGreat company cultureFree office snacksMuch more!
