Project Engineer IIWe're hiring a Project Engineer II to support large-scale infrastructure and heavy civil projects. This role bridges the field and office, assisting Project Managers in tracking operations, analyzing production data, and ensuring seamless project documentation. Approximately 75% of your time will involve field engagement—gathering measurements, coordinating with field crews, and supporting daily construction activities.If you're an organized, proactive, and technically skilled professional looking to grow in a fast-paced construction environment, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a leadership-track engineering role.Key Responsibilities:Support the full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout in coordination with PMs and SuperintendentsMaintain and update look-ahead schedules, field measurements, and cost trackingPrepare submittals, RFIs, transmittals, daily diaries, dispatch orders, and material tracking documentsPerform on-site data collection and measurement verification for progress paymentsConduct safety inspections and submit incident reports as neededCoordinate and submit permit applications, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract documentationCreate and maintain extra work reports; track approval signatures and project logsAnalyze daily production performance and report insights to managementMaintain quality control documentation and ensure subcontractor complianceAttend project meetings, client updates, and site visits as requiredServe as the PM's "eyes and ears" on the jobsite—reporting potential issues, budget variances, or delaysPreferred Tools & Technologies:Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Scheduling tools: Primavera P6 or MS ProjectTakeoff and field tools: AGTEK, HCSS Heavy Job, HCSS Plans, BluebeamAccounting software: Spectrum or similar ERPFamiliarity with field management software and mobile reporting toolsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)Minimum 2 years of experience supporting civil or commercial construction projectsValid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sitesQSP Certification for SWPPP compliance preferredDemonstrated ability to work independently and manage competing deadlinesStrong communication, analytical, and organizational skillsComfortable working in both field and office environments, including nights or overtime when neededWork Environment & Physical Requirements:Majority field-based with some office dutiesMust be able to walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.Exposure to construction site conditions including dust, noise, and weatherMay require night shifts or extended hours to meet project deadlinesWhy Join Us:You'll be part of a respected, long-standing construction firm with a track record of delivering large, high-impact projects across California.
