Project EngineerOur client is seeking a Field Project Engineer with a strong background in mechanical installation of combined cycle power plants or large industrial facilities. This roll will support field execution, ensuring that construction, installation, and commissioning activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical systems installation (piping, turbines, HRSG, BOP systems) and possess working knowledge of civil, structural, and electrical disciplines to support the multi-disciplinary team.
Candidates from related industrial sectors such as chemical plants, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial construction will also be considered, particularly those with multidisciplinary exposure.The Field Engineer will serve as the key technical resource in the field, bridging engineering design and construction execution. This individual will primarily support mechanical systems installation while also supporting civil and electrical teams to ensure proper integration and successful project delivery. This position requires a hands-on approach, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to operate effectively in dynamic construction environments.ResponsibilitiesSupport field construction activities, with a focus on mechanical installation and executionCoordinate daily work activities between home base engineering, on-site engineering, and construction teamsInterface with mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical teams to ensure proper system integrationReview and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and vendor documentationEnsure field installations comply with projects standards, codes, and safety requirementsProvide technical support to construction teams and resolve field issuesAssist in planning, scheduling, and work front coordinationIdentify and help resolve technical issues, constructability concerns, and field conflictsInterface with QA/QC and support inspection and documentation effortsTrack field changes, RFIs, and as-built documentationMonitor progress and report status to project leadershipPromote and enforce site safety policies and proceduresQualifications RequiredBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline3+ years of experience in field engineering, industrial construction, or power generationExperience in power generation, energy, or industrial projectsExperience in combined cycle power plants is highly preferredAbility to read and interpret:P&ID'sIsometric DrawingsGeneral Arrangement DrawingsWorking knowledge of:Mechanical systems (e.g., piping, rotating equipment, HVAC, or similar)Basic civil/structural interfaces (foundations, supports, steel)Electrical systems (cable routing, equipment interfaces)Effective communication and coordination skillsPreferredExperience with EPC projects in power, chemical, or heavy industrial environmentsBackground in:Chemical plantsRefining/petrochemical facilitiesHeavy industrial or manufacturing installationExposure to commissioning and startup activitiesExperience working with contractors and vendors in the fieldFamiliarity with multi-discipline project environmentsPrevious role as:Field EngineerProject EngineerConstruction EngineerESPO has a comprehensive benefits package which includes PTO, Group Health and Dental Insurance, and 401k after you have satisfied the necessary waiting periods.
