Project Engineer – Battery Energy Storage (Massachusetts)

My client, a market leader in the deployment of advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems, is seeking a Project Engineer to support project delivery in Massachusetts and the broader New England region. This role requires an electrical engineering degree and hands-on experience in the design and execution of utility-scale energy storage projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical aspects of BESS projects from design through commissioning.
- Prepare, review, and approve electrical design documents and equipment specifications.
- Interface with ISO-NE and local utilities to meet interconnection requirements.
- Coordinate with development, procurement, and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Attend site visits for feasibility, constructability, and quality checks.
- Respond to technical RFIs, review submittals, and manage design changes during construction.
- Ensure compliance with Massachusetts codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 3 years’ experience in BESS or renewable energy project engineering.
- Familiarity with ISO-NE processes, high-voltage equipment, and grid integration.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites within Massachusetts and the surrounding region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence in Massachusetts.
- Experience with New England-specific permitting and utility interconnection processes.
