Their employees care about the planet, about their clients, and about each other.The PositionOur client is seeking an Energy and Decarbonization Project Development Engineer to help deliver climate neutrality solutions to their clients. The Project Development Engineer will identify and lead concept level design of energy efficiency and decarbonization projects for our clients buildings and campuses at large, working closely with the Vice President of Engineering. The Project Development Engineer should be highly motivated and capable of working independently with little direction. The Project Development Engineer should be a creative thinker, capable of seeing an existing system and envisioning a low carbon solution.Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, employer matched 401(k) plan, learning and development opportunities, and a workplace environment committed to diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice.Principal DutiesAct as the lead energy engineer and project developer for various projectsConduct field investigations of existing building energy systemsGather and document key building energy performance information including utility data, mechanical and electrical drawings, etc.Perform baseline analysis and benchmarking of building- or campus-level energy usage and carbon emissions levelsIdentify opportunities for energy- or carbon-reducing capital projects, such as upgrades to HVAC systemsPrepare outline scopes of work for proposed project conceptsCollaborate & communicate constructively with owners to identify challenges and needs, and brainstorm solutions to their energy and carbon reduction goals.Prepare concept-level drawings, sketches, reports, and/or presentations for use in communicating project concepts to customers, consultants and/or subcontractorsCoordinate with company sub-consulting engineers in performing design engineering and other engineering analyses of projectsDevelop cost estimates of proposed efficiency improvements, working with equipment suppliers and installation subcontractorsSupport and coordinate final development of construction documents and provide additional construction phase project engineering supportSupport and add value to client-focused planning projects (climate action planning, sustainability planning):Review existing energy use data and utility billsReview and assess prior energy efficiency studiesPrepare analyses of baseline energy use and carbon emissions at the building and/or institution levelProvide engineering review of existing information such as energy audits, energy master plans, and other existing documentationProvide recommendation and assessment of feasibility for energy reduction and decarbonization strategiesOther DutiesMaintain working knowledge of the latest HVAC and building energy-related products and technologiesMaintain contacts with equipment suppliers and sales representativesParticipate in relevant professional organizationsWork to secure relevant professional certificationsRequired Skills, Experience And CharacteristicsBSME or related degreeMinimum five years of experience with energy efficiency and/or building HVAC/MEP engineeringEIT or CEM certification is a plusAbility to work independently with limited guidanceAbility to work effectively in a team environmentAbility to manage multiple projects and schedules simultaneouslyStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsMust be physically able to perform field surveys, including extensive standing/walking and climbing laddersProficiency with MS Office, especially ExcelField project management experience is a plus
