Job PostingJob Summary: These positions support Georgia Power and SOCO by coordinating, guiding and reviewing various activities associated with all aspects of pole attachment requests, pole replacements, pole removals and other aspects related to Power Delivery design, construction and maintenance throughout Georgia. These positions are involved with the permitting, design, engineering and construction processes for pole attachment projects with other Company departments, communication companies, EMC and City electric systems, as well as local, state and federal governments. One position will focus on engineering and design of related work and the second will focus more on the construction coordination and oversight of crews.

Both positions will be involved with installing, maintaining, or removing of attachments on GPC poles, over-size load moves, internal communication lines, and other assignments such as storm related needs. The successful candidates must be able to build positive relationships; educate and support a variety of teammates and customers in engineering or construction roles. Ability to ensure work is designed and completed safely and efficiently and in compliance with local, state and federal guidelines, Company and Industry standards for the benefit of all stakeholders is a must.Job Requirements:Background – Engineering Emphasis:Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred; Engineering Technology is acceptableMaster's Degree and/or PE License are a plusMinimum of 5 years' experience in design and estimating with electric utilityBackground – Construction Emphasis:Distribution Construction background of 10+ years is a plusDistribution Construction supervision of 5+ years is a plusMinimum of 10 years line construction experienceExperience:Experience utilizing JETS, DistView, PoleForeman, NJUNS and Microsoft Office productsExperience in customer supportExperience leading team efforts and resolving conflict with both internal and external partiesExperience leading projects involving multiple work groups and departmentsExperience cultivating a team environment for project successDemonstrated focus on Safety and Human PerformanceLeadership experience in an external arena and/or Company position is a plusExperience utilizing JUMS (Joint Use Management System) is a plusExperience in contract administration and/or managing contractors is a plusKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:In-depth knowledge of electrical distribution systems – requirements, work practices, and proceduresBroad knowledge of Company operations, policies, and procedures.Strong knowledge of and previous experience applying the NESC and SOCO Specifications.Knowledge of contract administrationUnderstanding of functional business processes as they relate to design, construction and operations is a plusExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsCustomer focused attitude with a desire and ability to learnStrong interpersonal and communication skills, including effective verbal/written communication of insights, and the ability to communicate and present effectively at all levels both internally and with external stakeholders such as customers, business and governmental leaders, and vendors/suppliersComplex problem-solving skills and ability to make difficult decisionsStrong analytical skills to evaluate progress, identify problem areas, evaluate alternatives and determine viable solutionsAbility to resolve conflict between and among individuals and functional areasAbility to multi-task, handle multiple requests and projects in a timely manner, and quickly adapt to changing conditionsAbility to perform work with a high degree of accuracy, quality, and attention to detail, in accordance with policies and proceduresAbility to work independently, exhibit strong initiative, and consistently take ownership of issues from inception to resolutionAbility to build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholdersRole Responsibilities May Include:Lead, coordinate, guide and review activities associated with all aspects of pole attachment requests and make ready construction, pole replacements, and pole removals statewideCoordinate permitting, design, engineering and construction processes and activities for all assigned projects to meet deadlinesCoordinate preparation and completion of complex, detailed drawings and designs, estimates, material lists and structural analyses required for all assigned make ready work for pole attachment requestsLead contract engineers and construction crews to safely and efficiently complete make ready process in accordance with state and federal regulations, contract requirements and SOCO specificationsSupport planning, scheduling and coordination of construction activities to prepare crews for smooth execution of make ready constructionCoordinate/manage pre-construction job site visits as needed to identify potential site conditions/conflicts that could impact safe and/or timely constructionCoordinate/manage pre-construction meetings with GPC and attached contractors to communicate site responsibilities and coordinate schedulesSupport preparation of and monitor JETS estimates, job packages and job closeoutsMonitor and ensure completion of permitting and construction information in the JUMS workflow management systemEnsure resources, materials, designs and permits are in place prior to commencement of and during constructionSupport functional accounting and budget management, billing and collection associated with projects, and ensure appropriate payment by applicantsMaintain and meet high standards for safety and work qualityProvide support in developing contracts and rates for service vendor workersProvide support in formulating functional strategy and transferring knowledge both internally and externally, including management and documentation of processesSupport functional management of contractor resources to ensure efficient use of contract manpower and accurate invoicing by same; resolve contractor performance issues and contract-related disputesAssist team with Company and industry responses regarding best practices and rule-making and other legal/regulatory proceedingsCollaborate with internal/external parties on specifications, project changes and compliance issuesCoordinate identification, tracking and removal of old polesParticipate in SOCO and industry groups to enhance practices and share industry knowledgeBuild relationships through jobsite visits; routinely communicate with stakeholders to resolve issues or project questionsSubstantiate vendor deliverables for data quality, accuracy and completeness, seek to improve engineering quality, and take corrective action and communicate findings and solutions as issues are discoveredPerform field visits to evaluate quality of engineering designs and/or verify compliance with work directive, safety codes and construction standardsCoordinate inspection of third party attachmentsAbility to check NJUNS tickets and determine next stepsCoordinate and execute training as needed for vendors and field services teamsEnhance team capabilities by seeking opportunities for improvement of existing methods, tools or workflowsLead special projects as assignedParticipate in SERP activities as needed, which may include after hours and weekendsMust have valid Driver's License.Overnight travel is frequently required to support the various work of GPC for state/system/S.E.E.
