This role is responsible for overseeing project financials from setup through closeout, ensuring accurate job costing, billing, and reporting in a fast-paced, project-based environment.The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including WIP, progress billing, and contract compliance, and is comfortable partnering with project managers and operations teams to drive financial accuracy and project profitability. This is a salaried, exempt role requiring a high level of accountability, organization, and independent judgment.Project Accounting & Lifecycle ManagementManage financial aspects of construction projects from setup through closeoutEnsure project setup, budgets, and cost structures are accurate and aligned with contract termsMonitor contract compliance, including change orders, billing schedules, and documentationTrack and manage preliminary liens and lien releasesBilling & Accounts ReceivablePrepare and manage progress billings, including AIA billings (G702/G703)Ensure timely and accurate invoicing in accordance with contract termsMonitor accounts receivable aging and support collection effortsReconcile customer accounts at month-end and year-endRespond to client inquiries related to billing and project financialsPrepare and maintain WIP schedules for monthly reporting and annual audit supportAccounts Payable & Cost ManagementReview and process subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and project-related expensesEnsure all costs are accurately coded and allocated to the appropriate jobsTrack subcontractor compliance, including insurance and bonding documentationMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of all project costsPayroll & Labor CostingEnsure labor hours are accurately recorded and allocated to the correct projectsSupport payroll processes related to job costingAssist with prevailing wage compliance where applicableReporting & Financial AnalysisPartner with project managers and operations teams to monitor project financial performanceAnalyze project costs, budgets, and forecasts, identifying variances and trendsPrepare regular financial reports, including cost analysis and profitability insightsSupport forecasting and budget updates for active projectsIdentify risks or discrepancies and recommend corrective actionsCompliance & Process ImprovementEnsure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and contract requirementsMaintain organized documentation to support audits and financial reviewsParticipate in process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalabilitySupport internal controls related to project accounting and financial reportingQualifications3+ years of construction or project-based accounting experience preferredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredStrong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job costing, WIP, progress billing, and retainageExperience with AIA billing (G702/G703 forms)Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelExperience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or similar platformsStrong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environmentStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionallyCompensation and BenefitsSalary Range: $74,000 – $80,000 annually (commensurate with experience)Health, Dental, and Vision Benefits401(k) with Company MatchPaid Time Off
