Overview
A leading infrastructure construction firm is seeking a Project Accountant to join its team on a major development project in Chicago. Responsibilities
- Support monthly financial close processes and assist with internal reporting
- Prepare account reconciliations for cash, liabilities, fixed assets, and payroll accruals
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper approvals
- Manage petty cash disbursements and perform monthly reconciliations
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Coordinate with banks for transfers and letters of credit
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation
- Track and maintain inventory of fixed assets and project-related materials
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and cost efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Proficiency in reconciliations, budgeting, and invoice processing
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with project-based financial structures and banking procedures is a plus
