Project Accountant OpportunityAre you the kind of project accountant who likes to take ownership, bring clarity to the numbers, and help a business run more effectively?Do you enjoy being close to the work, not just reporting on it?Why this role stands outThis isn't a back-office accounting role where you're disconnected from the business.At Blue Trident, you'll be right in the middle of it.You'll work closely with leadership and project teams, helping ensure projects stay financially on track while bringing consistency and clarity to day-to-day accounting operations.Even more importantly, you'll step into a role where you can:Take ownership of core accounting functions and make an immediate impactWork directly with project managers to support job cost tracking and financial visibilityBring structure and consistency to processes that are ready to be improvedFree up leadership time by owning the details and executionThis is a role for someone who wants to make an impact.What you'll be doingYou'll take ownership of day-to-day accounting while supporting project-level financial performance:Core Accounting ExecutionManage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor invoices, client billing, and payment trackingMaintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and perform account reconciliationsSupport month-end close and ensure accuracy of financial dataProject & Job Cost AccountingSet up and manage project financials within UnanetTrack labor, materials, and subcontractor costsSupport project managers with budget visibility and financial performanceAssist with WIP reporting and project-level financial reviewsSystems & Process ImprovementUtilize Unanet ERP for financial tracking and reportingIdentify inefficiencies and help improve accounting workflowsSupport efforts to standardize processes and improve consistencyCompliance & ReportingMaintain accurate financial records for audit and compliance purposesSupport documentation for federal contracts and reporting requirementsEnsure adherence to internal controls and financial policiesCollaboration & Business SupportPartner with leadership and project teams to ensure financial accuracySupport budgeting discussions and financial planningProvide insight into potential risks and areas for improvementWhat makes someone successful in this roleYou're someone who:Takes ownership and follows throughEnjoys working in a hands-on, fast-moving environmentUnderstands how accounting connects to real business decisionsCan balance detail and big pictureLikes building structure where things aren't fully defined yetWhat you bring5+ years of accounting experienceExperience in construction, engineering, or project-based accounting (strongly preferred)Solid understanding of job cost accounting and project financialsExperience working in an ERP system (Unanet or similar is a plus)Working knowledge of GAAPStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and collaborate across teamsCPA, CCIFP, or similar certification preferredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)What you'll get in returnA role where your work has immediate, visible impactDirect access to leadership and the ability to influence how things are doneThe opportunity to own and improve processes, not just follow themA growing company where your contributions matterDetailsLocation: Flexible / hybrid (based on candidate)Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000, depending on experienceYou'll thrive at your best when you can take ownership, bring order to the details, and help teams actually understand their numbers?If that sounds like you, this could be a really good fit.
