Programmer – ConsultantLocation: Blythewood, SC Work Type: 100% Onsite during probation; Hybrid option available afterward Duration: 12 Months (with potential for long-term extension)Position Summary:The State of South Carolina is seeking an experienced Programmer Consultant to support, develop, and maintain enterprise-level systems, including web services, batch applications, and business-critical platforms.

The role will initially require onsite presence for direct collaboration with technical and business teams, with the possibility of hybrid work after the probationary period.This is a rebid for a 36-month renewal with an expectation for long-term engagement. New applicants are encouraged to apply through a competitive interview process.Responsibilities:Analyze current business applications, including web services and batch systemsLead the diagnosis and resolution of assigned system issuesDesign and propose scalable, efficient technical solutionsDevelop, test, and promote application changes while ensuring they meet functional requirementsCollaborate with impacted stakeholders to gather feedback and align on functionalityProvide regular status updates to managementRequired Skills & Experience:8+ years of development experience using Micro Focus Visual COBOL on Windows Server 2019/2022, including batch and IIS environments4+ years of development experience using Visual Studio 2019/2022, including debugging4+ years of application programming experience with RDBMS such as Oracle or MS SQLPreferred Skills:5+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries for Oracle and MS SQL databases2+ years of experience configuring and managing IIS1+ year of experience with Microsoft C# and.NETEducation Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related discipline with at least 8 years of relevant experience ORMinimum of 10 years of directly related professional experience in lieu of a degreePreferred Certifications:Microsoft technical certifications (considered in selection)Micro Focus certifications (strongly preferred)Additional Notes:Initial work must be conducted onsite; hybrid work may be approved after onboardingLong-term commitment is expected due to the nature of systems supportedRegional candidates from South Carolina, Georgia, or North Carolina will be given preference due to potential hybrid eligibilityLumen Solutions Group Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in employment on the basis of Minority/Gender/Disability/Religion/LGBTQI/Age/Veterans.
