PROGRAM REGISTERED NURSE (RN) or LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN)

These positions are to care for the medical needs of students placed in a BOCES classroom located in a special education host site program. Assistance with all medical aspects of the student's day is expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with daily living skills including toileting, personal care, feeding, maintaining safety during transitions, redirection, task initiation, communication, interaction with others, and supervision for sensory activities and routines.
• Perform daily tube feeding for students.
• Provide constant monitoring during and after feeding.
• Conduct regular assessment of respiratory needs.
• Dispense medications under the direction of an RN.
• Complete Medicaid paperwork under the direction of an RN.
• Assist with student arrival and departure.
• Help students carry out prescribed physical exercises.
• Assist students with daily living skills/hygiene.
• Follow medical protocol.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid NYS Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• Physically able and willing to meet the needs of the students.
• Experience working with disabled students is preferred.
• TCI training is required for this position.
