PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish community liaison ties with human service providers within the Betances service area (Lower East Side/Bushwick).
  • Provide service registration assistance to patients enrolled through targeted outreach effort.
  • Provide translation assistance for Chinese monolingual patients.
  • Create and implement outreach initiatives with the aim of informing prospective patients about the full array of services available at Betances Health Center.
  • Provide telephone and on-site liaison assistance to patients in need of assistance obtaining access to service.
  • Obtain leads in identifying persons that may have a need for services and face access barriers due to language or physical limitations.
  • Engage in troubleshooting activity to help resolve patient complaints from newly enrolled patients registered through outreach initiatives.
  • Create, promote, and distribute targeted patient services information to special population groups within the service area.
  • Provide translation of English language public information materials into Chinese language materials promoting patient care at Betances Health Center.
  • Provide media relations services, including writing copy in the area of Betances Health Center public relations, special events, provider profiles, and service promotion.
  • Organize and carry out service promotion activities aimed at special population groups in the Asian neighborhoods of Betances' service area.
  • Routinely prepare outcome reports; and perform such other duties that may be assigned by the Marketing Director.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • BA degree or AA degree and 1 year outreach experience in a human services setting, or HS graduate with 5-10 years' experience in sales/human service outreach.
  • Bilingual Chinese/Mandarin preferred.
  • Demonstrates good people skills in the areas of: interpersonal communications, cultural, age sensitivity and must be able to engage people from various ethnic and age groups.
  • Experience in a customer service environment having person-to-person contact and performing clerical and phone communications.
  • Basic computer literacy, with demonstrated skill in use of MS Word and Excel software. Experience with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system is a plus.
  • Must be a team player. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Displays self-initiative.
