Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead the end-to-end data collection, assessment, and compliance strategy for packaging materials. This role focuses on ensuring adherence to the European Union's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and related global packaging sustainability requirements. The Program Manager will own cross-functional coordination across internal subject matter experts (SMEs) and external suppliers, driving material composition assessments, closing data gaps, and overseeing packaging design-change initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and drive comprehensive data-gathering initiatives for all packaging materials, understanding detailed material compositions, chemical characterizations, and supporting technical datasets.
• Evaluate collected packaging data against applicable regulatory limits and sustainability mandates, identifying compliance gaps and areas requiring remediation.
• Engage directly with suppliers to request, track, and secure missing material specifications, declarations, and composition data through to final closure.
• Build and maintain a consolidated, audit-ready database of packaging and supplier data, tracking the real-time status of assessments across product lines.
• Scope resource and funding requirements for data-collection programs and coordinate engineering or packaging design-change activities resulting from regulatory assessments.
• Consolidate, synthesize, and present rolled-up assessment data, risk matrices, and progress milestones to SMEs, leadership, and executive stakeholders.
• Serve as the central owner of program execution, managing project schedules, supplier escalations, risk mitigation strategies, and cross-functional alignment.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven program or project management experience within regulated industries such as Medical Devices, Healthcare Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, or Packaging Materials.
• In-depth knowledge of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and associated European environmental/sustainability regulations.
• Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end data gathering, supplier outreach, and regulatory compliance gap assessments across complex supply chains.
• Strong background in packaging material structures, recyclability standards, and design-for-recyclability principles.
• Excellent cross-functional leadership, stakeholder management, risk resolution, and communication skills.
• Ability to work remotely supporting Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours and travel up to 10% as needed.

Pay Scale: $40/hr to $45/hr on W2
