This Program Manager III position serves as the Mid-West Regional Manager for the Maryland Park Service, overseeing daily operations and administration of nine state parks and facilities in Western Maryland. The role manages visitor services, natural and historical resource management, personnel, equipment, budgets, and emergency response capabilities while representing the agency to stakeholders and enforcing DNR regulations. The incumbent develops strategies to enhance park programs, maximize revenues, and protect Maryland's natural, cultural, and recreational resources across the region.
Key qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in forestry, natural resources management, parks and recreation, history, business administration, or related natural science
- Eight years of experience in forest/park administration and operations, with five years in a supervisory capacity over full-time personnel
- Valid Maryland motor vehicle operator's license for assigned duties
- Preferred: Three years managing park operations and supervising employees in Maryland State Park
- Preferred: Three years managing budgets, personnel, and park facilities with environmental education programs
- Preferred: Three years working with community and government agency partners on public safety and resource protection
