Program Manager, Community Based MentoringBig Brothers Big Sisters of NYC seeks a youth-focused, service-oriented Program Manager to join the Community-Based mentoring program. The Program Manager is responsible for facilitating high-quality, high-impact relationships between mentor (Big) and mentee (Little) matches. This Program Manager will report directly to an Associate Director or Senior Program Manager.Responsibilities include supporting an average caseload of 55 matches of mentoring relationships between adult volunteers and youth; advising Bigs, Littles and parents/guardians through on-going support and supervision; facilitating group activities that promote stronger mentoring relationships and supporting youth goal achievement; providing resources and referrals to youth, volunteers, and parents/guardians; and conducting intake interviews and psychosocial assessments of youth applying to the program as required.Job responsibilities:Ensure a high level of proficiency and skill in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies, and procedures throughout all aspects of job function.
Identify and report child safety issues for volunteers, children, and their familiesSupervise a caseload of 55 matches comprised of youth, parent/guardians, and volunteers with the goal of building an impactful, longer, stronger mentoring relationshipProvide ongoing phone, email, and in-person monthly supervision and support to mentors, mentees, and parentsConduct client and parent psychosocial interviews, write assessments and collect supporting information from collaborating agencies, schools, etc. to determine disposition based on eligibility, needs, goals, and/or acceptance for agency servicesMaintain and document professional records of all supervision contacts; collect surveys on youth outcomes, the strength of the mentoring relationship, and identify ongoing support needsMonitor closely for safety, program compliance, goal achievement, and program satisfaction; immediately address and resolve issues that may ariseRegularly evaluate youth clients based on agency guidelines and specific program goals to assess outcomesLead educational and recreational group activities and/or special projects for mentoring pairs and parents based on emerging needsAct as an advocate for youth and families by providing referrals, crisis intervention, and other additional resourcesIdentify and communicate qualitative and quantitative success within the organizationPerform other organization and program-related duties as assignedJob qualifications:Education: Associate Degree in relevant field with 4+ years of experience; Bachelor's Degree in education, counseling, psychology, social services or related field with 1–3 years of direct service experience; Master's Degree in mental health counseling, social work, education or other relevant fields with 0–2 years of experience8+ years of experience in the youth development field may exempt applicants from education standardsKnowledge of child safety and mandatory reporter protocols, alignment with an asset-based approach to supporting young people and volunteersCommitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusionAdaptable and flexible; strong critical thinking and situational judgment; ability to build relationships; Strong administrative and organizational skillsExperience developing and managing relationships with youth clients, guardians, and volunteer mentorsKnowledge and demonstrated experience with intake processes, and case management skills; Experience with conducting psycho-social interviews, a plusMust be proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, & Outlook; Experience using Matchforce and/or Innovative Mentoring systems, a plusStrong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groupsExcellent organizational skills, ability to manage high caseloads and effectively work with clientsBilingual skills in the following languages: Spanish/Chinese/Korean is a plusSalary: $50,000-$55,000
