Paraprofessionals in the SAILS Program
Location: Olson Middle School
Effective Date: 8/25/2026
Salary: Class III ranging from $23.06 - $27.15 per hour (Wage placement based on similar experience)
Hours: 6.2 hours per day (Approx. 7:55 to 2:37 pm); 5 days per week; 180 days per year
Required Education:
- High School Diploma
- 60 credits post-secondary education or a passing score on the Para Pro Exam
- PCA Certification (or the ability to obtain)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to push/pull equipment including standers, wheelchairs, etc
- Must be able to repetitively reach overhead
- Must be able to transfer to/from floor
- Must be able to kneel
Required Experience: Successful experiences working with special education students in an educational setting preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with licensed and other staff to assist students with academic, behavioral/social/emotional, instruction, and daily living skills
- Assist in implementation of assigned tasks including instruction and assisting students academically
- Monitor students' skills of independence and implementation of classroom or individual behavior management programs
- Assist with daily living activities
- Communicate students' progress with case managers
