The Program Leader directly supervises the three physicians of the building. This involves carrying out the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) process as described in the Medical Staff policies. The program leader will review the team physician's Individualized Plan of Care (IPOCs) in the medical record to assure that appropriate problems have been developed and that SMART goals (Specific Measurable Attainable Reasonable Time Limited) have been identified. The program leader will review Progress Note for each psychiatrist at least bimonthly per the OPPE policy. The program leader will visit one team meeting a month in addition to the Length of Stay meeting to assess Team Dynamics, and to observe the team's IPOC process, including identification and operationalization of signature risk signs. The individual will attend each Team's monthly 'Length of Stay' (LOS) meeting to comment on complex patients and assure adherence to recommendations from previous LOS meetings. The individual will provide clinical supervision to the psychiatrists regarding complicated cases. The program leader should ensure that physician absences do not overlap, and should assure that physicians' records are closed when they leave on vacation. The program leader does not supervise or manage the Salomon provider or their schedule, though that provider may exchange coverage with the Salomon psychiatrists as a matter of professional courtesy. The program leader will supervise the activities of the treatment mall indirectly; they do not supervise rehab staff directly, but act to advise rehab supervisors strategically, with a particular focus on keeping the treatment mall integrated into the recovery model. With the assistance of hospital data analyst and appropriate clinical staff, the program leader will accumulate data to evaluate attainment of Performance Improvement (Pl) goals for the program as a whole. At the same time, as part of individual supervision, the program leader will assist physicians in developing Pl projects for their units related to the medical staff. The Program Leader must be a credentialed member of the medical staff and serve on committees as assigned by the clinical director, and serve on committee’s in an ex-officio role. The Program Leader may be required to act in the role of an ad hoc unit director or unit psychiatrist, whether in Salomon or in another building.
