Program Summary

Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc. (CPC) is a leading Asian American social services agency founded in 1965. CPC offers more than 50 programs across 35 sites in NewYorkCity, including early childhood education, school‑age care, workforce development, and community services. CPC’s Department of Youth & Community Development, through its Comprehensive After School System (DYCD/COMPASS), partners with CPC to provide after‑school services to children ages 5‑12, promoting student enrichment and positive youth development.

Job Summary

The Program Director reports to the Director of Childhood Development Services and the Deputy Director of SACC Initiatives, providing overall leadership, management, and strategic direction of the site’s after‑school program. This role requires a commitment to continuous learning, professional growth, and collaborative problem‑solving to enhance program quality and outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities

• Oversee all day‑to‑day operations of the center, ensuring high‑quality, mission‑aligned service delivery.
• Hire, train, supervise, and inspire a team of educational staff.
• Manage classroom operations, including group sizes, attendance, daily routines, and safety procedures.
• Oversee educational environment and programming—provide curriculum resources, observe classroom practice, give feedback, and assess alignment with developmental standards.
• Register and enroll new families, manage schedules, and maintain enrollment documentation.
• Develop and track budget, ensuring responsible and transparent use of resources.
• Analyze enrollment and attendance trends to inform program planning and staffing.
• Support staff in implementing child guidance and behavior management strategies aligned with CPC policies.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of incident and injury reports per CPC protocols and regulatory requirements, and maintain secure records.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions as required.
• Report to and fulfill additional program activities assigned by leadership.

Collaboration

• Serve as an active member of the CPC management team, collaborating with co‑leaders, support staff, and agency departments.
• Motivate staff with a positive attitude, modeling professionalism and leading by example.
• Develop and implement systems for family involvement and engagement.
• Maintain effective communication and partnerships with school principals, school staff, and parents.
• Establish partnerships with community‑based organizations to enrich programming.

Licensing and Contract

• Maintain knowledge of NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene regulations, FDNY safety requirements, and CPC policies.
• Ensure adherence to all DYCD contract requirements and deliverables.
• Maintain readiness for audits, site visits, and performance reviews by licensing and oversight entities.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in an early education or school‑age setting.
• Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience; experience managing teams in educational or nonprofit settings preferred.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

$66,300 annual salary; 35 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend hours. CPC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off (holiday, sick and vacation time), medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance coverage, commuter benefits, and a 403(b) retirement plan.
