Role Description

The Program Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Holyoke, MA, responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of tutoring and mentoring programs. This role manages daily program operations, including scheduling sessions, supervising staff and volunteers, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for students. The Program Director develops and refines curriculum and instructional approaches in coordination with educators, tracks student progress, and uses data to adjust programming for maximum impact. The role includes building strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners, coordinating outreach, and representing Homework House in local meetings and events. The Program Director also oversees and supports staff development and fostering a collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

  • Experience in program management and coordination within education, youth services, or nonprofit settings.
  • Background in teaching, tutoring, or educational support for elementary-age students, particularly in math and reading.
  • Skills in staff and volunteer supervision, including training, coaching, scheduling, and performance feedback.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with children, families, school personnel, and community partners. Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and use program data to inform decisions and improve outcomes.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple priorities, deadlines, and on-site responsibilities.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices in working with diverse communities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, nonprofit management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Comfort with basic office technologies, databases, and communication tools used for scheduling, reporting, and collaboration.
  • Ability to work on-site in Holyoke, MA, with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend activities as needed.
