Traditional elementary schools reduce expectations when students fall behind. You do the opposite. You understand that a six-year-old can accomplish far more than conventional classrooms demand, and you have leveraged data to demonstrate this repeatedly.
Alpha operates on a two-hour learning framework. Adaptive applications handle academic instruction each morning, freeing your schedule for the interventions that genuinely transform a child: motivation, life skills, coaching, and accountability. You directly oversee a cohort of K-3 students while simultaneously coaching the Guides (Alpha's terminology for the adults who inspire and support the children) who manage their day-to-day development. You remain actively involved each day rather than supervising from a separate office.
Your typical day alternates among three core activities. You analyze performance data and Coachbot analytics to identify which students and Guides require support. You conduct coaching sessions that conclude with concrete next actions rather than general encouragement. And you capture and maintain the focus of a room filled with five- to nine-year-olds during workshops on subjects like public speaking, concentration, or exchanging feedback.
When you identify effective approaches, you document them. The playbooks you create establish the protocols that every other Guide implements, expanding your influence from a single cohort to the entire grade level. Demonstrating your ability to scale that quality is your pathway to greater leadership responsibility here.
If reducing standards feels compassionate to you, this role is not appropriate. If elevating them feels like respect, submit your application.
What You Will Be Doing
- Coaching both Guides and students through performance data, classroom observation, and targeted feedback, then maintaining accountability to quantifiable objectives
- Leading one-hour live workshops for K-3 students on life skills including public speaking, concentration, collaboration, resilience, accountability, and exchanging feedback
- Conducting individual and small-group motivation sessions that link each child's personal goals and interests to tangible academic advancement
- Creating and iterating on playbooks that convert your proven methods into replicable systems other Guides can implement reliably
- Preparing Guides on those playbooks and demonstrating excellence in facilitation to preserve standards as the team expands
What You Won't Be Doing
- Providing academic instruction or lecturing from a podium; adaptive apps handle content delivery while you coach the people
- Reducing expectations when students encounter difficulty
- Managing from a distance as instructional coaches and principals typically do; you remain integrated with your cohort every day
- Managing the full campus budget, operations, and parent relations; a Campus Lead handles those responsibilities so you can concentrate on student and Guide performance
- Advocating for traditional teaching practices or implementing a standard K-12 curriculum
