Program CoordinatorLocation: YanktonReports To: Traditional Club DirectorClassified: Full Time, ExemptMission: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.Job Summary: This is where Great Futures get built - and the Program Coordinator is right at the center of it. Reporting to the Traditional Club Director, the Coordinator plans, leads, and evaluates programming that helps youth in 1st through 5th grade grow, while supervising program staff and supporting daily Club operations. Every interaction reflects the 5 Key Elements of Positive Youth Development (fun, safety, recognition, supportive relationships, and opportunities & expectations) and the Club's core values: excellence, teamwork, impact, and integrity.Key Responsibilities:Plan and oversee high-quality programs that drive BGCA's priority outcomes: Academic Success, Good Character & Leadership, and Healthy LifestylesBuild programming that is fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for youth in 1st through 5th grade, and that produces measurable impactEvaluate programs regularly and adjust to meet member needsProvide program content for newsletters, publications, and reportsHire, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned direct reports under the direction of the Traditional Club DirectorProvide leadership, direction, and on-the-spot and reflective feedback to staff and volunteersPromote and model the Club's core values: excellence, impact-driven work, teamwork, and integrityEstablish an environment that ensures the health and safety of all membersBe on the floor assisting with floor management when members are in the ClubManage behavioral and disciplinary issues per Club policySupport new member orientation in partnership with Club staffCommunicate daily with the Traditional Club Director on overall Club and program operationsPromote the Club during school open houses, community events, and partner activitiesWork collaboratively with community partners to enhance servicesAssist with all special events at the ClubCreate staff schedules and ensure appropriate staffing coverageOn snow days, no-school days, and unexpected full days, cover shifts as needed to ensure the Club can open safelyAttend all required organizational meetings, including monthly all-staff meetings and supervisor meetingsAll other duties as assigned in support of the Club's mission and operationsEmployment Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or three years of equivalent experience in a related fieldMinimum of 1 year of experience working with youth-serving organizationsDemonstrated experience working with youth in grades 1st through 5thSupervisory experience preferred, ideally in a youth-serving or nonprofit environmentStrong leadership presence with the ability to coach, mentor, and hold staff accountablePositive, solutions-oriented outlookStrong verbal and written communication skillsUnderstanding of youth development principles and behavior management aligned with the Club's core values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, high expectations, and safetyAbility to provide both immediate and reflective feedback that supports positive youth developmentPhysical Requirements:Capacity to observe, interact with, and communicate effectively among youth, staff, volunteers, and parents to ensure a safe and supportive Club environmentAbility to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods during a shiftAbility to safely operate general office equipment (computers, phones, copiers)This position is safety-sensitive and requires consistent awareness of and responsiveness to the safety of all Club membersBenefits:6-Month Retention Bonus – Retention reward paid at 6 months of employment.12 - Month Retention Bonus – Retention reward paid at 12 months of employment.Discounted Childcare – Discounted rates available for employee children ages 5 and older enrolled in Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains program.The information presented indicates the general nature and level of work expected of employees in this classification.
