Program AssistantKew Gardens Community Center - Kew Gardens, NY 11415OverviewSalary Range $20.00 - $20.00 Hourly Position Type Full Time Education Level High SchoolProgram AideJoin the Queens Community House Team!Are you organized, welcoming, and passionate about supporting older adults and strengthening community connections?Queens Community House (QCH) is seeking a dedicated Program Assistant to join our team at the Kew Gardens Older Adult Center.As a Program Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Older Adult Center while helping create a welcoming, engaging, and supportive environment for participants.This position combines customer service, administrative support, data management, and hands-on program assistance. You'll work closely with center leadership, program staff, instructors, caseworkers, consultants, kitchen staff, and community partners to help ensure participants have a positive experience and access to meaningful programs and services.If you enjoy working with people, staying organized, and making a difference in your community, we'd love to have you join QCH!What You'll DoParticipant & Clerical SupportWelcome and assist participants, visitors, and guests in person and by phone, providing accurate information and guidance.Create, print, and distribute flyers and promotional materials for programs, activities, workshops, and special events.Process and complete membership registrations for older adult participants.Manage daily scanning and manual entry of program activity and participant information.Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Older Adult Center team.Maintain a welcoming, organized, and professional reception and program environment.Assist participants with general questions and direct them to appropriate staff or resources as needed.Program & Center SupportAssist with setting up and breaking down meal spaces, activities, workshops, and special events.Assist with meal distribution and other daily center operations.Support staff and instructors with program activities, workshops, classes, and special events.Engage with participants and encourage participation in center programs and activities.Assist with outreach efforts to increase participation and strengthen community involvement.Help create a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants.Assist with special projects and activities that support the center's programming and community engagement.Teamwork & Professional DevelopmentCollaborate with center leadership, caseworkers, program instructors, consultants, kitchen staff, and other team members to support effective center operations.Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and professional development opportunities.Adhere to QCH policies, procedures, and performance standards.Contribute to program evaluation, quality improvement, and other agency initiatives.Assist with the development and implementation of the annual training plan, as assigned.Support a culture of teamwork, respect, accountability, and excellent customer service.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of the Kew Gardens Older Adult Center and QCH's organizational needs.QualificationsWhat We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Tech-savvy with the ability to troubleshoot basic technology issues and learn new software.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, databases, and data entry systems.Ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds and assist with setting up tables, chairs, and other equipment for programs and events.Preferred QualificationsBilingual proficiency in Spanish strongly preferred.Previous experience working with older adults or in a social service setting.Administrative, office support, or customer service experience.Experience creating flyers and promotional materials.Experience using social media to promote programs and engage community members.Why Join Queens Community House?At Queens Community House, we believe strong communities are built through meaningful relationships, equitable opportunities, and accessible services.
