Professor, Bachelor of Applied Technology in Logistics and Supply Chain Management -North Campus

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Faculty members are expected to be effectiveteachers, to maintain current knowledge in their fields, and to have pedagogicskills that are appropriate for our students. Faculty members are also expectedto continue development of their knowledge and skills, to contribute to thecommunity of scholars, and to represent the College in the community. Allemployees of San Jacinto College are expected to demonstrate the values of theinstitution.

Teaching

• Keeps up with developments in the field of study.

• Creates a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages inquiry and collaboration.

• Teaches at times and locations that meet student needs.
• Provides access to students through posted conference hours, electronic communications, and other appropriate methods and responds to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.
• Develops and uses a syllabus and course information materials for each course, laboratory, or clinical setting within state, college, and departmental guideline.

Professional Development

• Maintains high standards of competence in the discipline(s) and teaching methodologies through professional development activities.
• Plans, develops, and uses effective teaching methods and materials which assist students in meeting course objectives, are appropriate for students with different educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles, and engage the students in learning.
• Reviews, evaluates, reflects, and revises program curricula and teaching methods through a self-evaluation process of self-reflection.
• Meets or exceeds professional standards, state-mandated guidelines, requirements of business/industry, and higher education, as appropriate to the discipline(s).

Service

• Actively participates in college meetings and/or committees, task forces, and councils.
• Participates in college-related activities such as registration, community education, recruitment of students, student retention, and faculty selection.
• Participates in college activities for students/student organizations to aid in retention.
• Participates in business and community activities that foster goodwill and promote the mission and values of the college.
• Participates in activities required to maintain program and college accreditation standards.
• Participates in setting departmental goals, in developing college budgets that support the goals, and in planning for achieving those goals.
• Promotes and maintains departmental affiliation agreements and other partnerships with other institutions.

Additional Job Functions:

• Curriculum development for upper-level courses andcompetency-based programming
• Plan, supervise, and evaluate studentobservation/field experiences.

REQUIRED/MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities:

• Knowledge, skills, and abilities relative to teaching area
• Proficiencyincomputer applications
• Proficiencyinlearning management system (Blackboard preferred)
• Ability to demonstrate College values

Education andExperience:

Required Education:

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution

Required Experience:

• Five years of full-time industry experience

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Doctoral degree from an accredited institution
• College teaching experience
• Ten years of full-time industry experience
• Five years teaching or training
• Higher Education experience
• Related widely recognized industry certification(s) specific to logistics andsupply chain management

Note: Facultyare assigned to teach courses using various delivery methods based on theteaching area and the needs of students and the College, which will require aphysical presence at the assigned on-site work location.
