Professional Services Tax Manager

Job Description

Withum's Tax Services Group is composed of tax specialists who ensure accurate tax reporting and help clients minimize or defer tax payments. They work in an environment that includes international, US, state, and local regulations, and are affiliated with HLB International.

Location

Tax Manager positions are available in Boca Raton, FL; Columbia, MD; New York City, NY; Orlando, FL; or Tysons Corner, VA .

Responsibilities

• Review individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns for accuracy.
• Research and draft memoranda on complex tax matters.
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities.
• Handle and resolve tax controversies.
• Oversee complete tax research projects for clients across diverse industries.
• Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to meet client deadlines.
• Conduct constructive discussions with team members regarding evaluations and provide counsel.
• Serve in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
• CPA license, JD, or Master of Science in Taxation is required.
• At least 5 years of experience in a public accounting tax department, including leading engagements and supervising staff.
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a fast‑paced, results‑based team.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, and excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities.
• Excellent organizational, project management, and detail‑oriented skills.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation ranges from $120,000 to $180,000 in Maryland and New York City. In addition to the base salary, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and a bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance.
