Production Supervisor (Welding)The Production Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations within a diverse and talented manufacturing team. Beyond supervision, they also coach, resolve issues, train, and serve as a link between direct reports and upper management.Key objectives and responsibilities include facilitating the manufacture of building products to meet production demands, while ensuring quality, safety, and productivity; collaborating with plant leadership to develop staffing guidelines, optimizing resource utilization while controlling costs; hiring, supervising, evaluating, and replacing staff as required to meet performance goals; developing and training employees for increasing responsibilities, conducting periodic evaluations, and holding safety and production meetings daily; driving initiatives of 5S, cost reduction, and quality improvement; conducting interviews and identifying qualified candidates for hire; assigning personnel, overseeing rotations, and maintaining effective communication during shift changes and troubleshooting; ensuring accurate completion of paperwork related to line operation, including logs, audits, and corrective actions; readily addressing any urgent production or shipping requirements, even if it disrupts the regular workflow; knowledge and understanding of all safety policies and regulations and ability to address all unsafe acts and conditions; administering policies fairly and consistently; providing coaching and counseling to employees and corrective action when needed, following company guidelines; promoting overall goals of company in safety, quality, delivery, and cost; identifying and assisting with implementations for continuous process improvement. Uses data to improve and refine production process; managing materials to reduce waste and support quality; collaborating with other departments to ensure timely job completions; highly developed oral and written communication skills, combines with the ability to educate and train employees in a production environment; performing other duties as assigned.Supervise, monitor, and manage the work of others to ensure tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.Education and work experience requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent (GED); 2 – year associate degree or a bachelor's degree in related field preferred but not required; minimum of two years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; demonstrated ability to supervise, motivate, mentor and train employees on a regular basis.Physical requirements include lifting capacity – ability to lift up to 30 lbs.; mobility – prolonged periods of time on feet, standing, bending, etc.; exposure – moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and non-climate-controlled environment; noise tolerance – high noise levels.
