Production SupervisorLocation: Turlock, CA - Full/Part-Time: Full-timeRegular/Temporary: Regular - FLSA Status: Salary (Exempt)Shift: Nights - Salary Range: $70,304 to $80,000 per year.Reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities and workflows of all employees to promote the overall efficiency of plant operations.Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:Supervise all rail receiving, commodity loadout, flake grain grinder production employees on assigned shiftSchedule and coordinate work hours and duties for employees on assigned shift; ensure regular and temporary employees are trained appropriately for assigned workWork with maintenance personnel on all issues pertaining to function and efficiency of facility; ensure timely follow-up of repairsOversee housekeeping program activities for entire work siteCoordinate logistics for receiving and loadout of all productsCoordinate production schedule and volume with Dispatch, Trucking and Sales personnelProvide coaching and training of employees, including temporary employees; recommend employee personnel actions, including hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions and terminations to the Plant ManagerRecommend and implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methodsMaintain a safe, clean and efficient work environment; ensure all safety processes and procedures are adhered to and enforcedCoordinate and schedule all safety and regular employee tailgate meetingsDevelop knowledge and understanding of all systems in locomotive operation, rail receiving, releasing, rail traffic, scale operation, loadout procedures, sampling procedures, inventory processes and measurementsPrepare daily and weekly reports for SJVAPCD and SPCCPerform related duties and/or special projects as assignedSkills & CompetenciesBoiler operations and other equipmentSafety, inventory and maintenance processes and proceduresComputer systems to create spreadsheetsTechnical and mechanical systems related to operationsAbility to:Take and follow directionsMaintain high-quality control standards; effectively problem-solve, supervise and troubleshootGain knowledge of locomotive operations to include scheduling of repairs and maintenanceHandle multiple priorities and meet deadlines regularly and consistentlyCommunicate effectively with all levels of staff throughout the organizationStrong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsEvaluate employees fairly and objectivelyBuild and maintain positive working relationships with all co-workers and staff, external personnel including BNSF / UP railroad personnelWork flexible hoursExperience and Training Guidelines:College coursework in technical field desiredThree (3) years' demonstrated experience leading and directing a team in a production environmentMS Office – Excel, Word; SAP experience desiredStrong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize successfullySpecial Demands Physical requirementsFrequent standing and/or long period of time on feet, occasional bending, and squatting, kneeling.Occasional lifting, and/or moving over 75 pounds.Occasional grasping, holding and reacting.Constant use of overall vision; frequent hearing and talking in person; may be required to wear ear protection or hear in noisy conditions.Frequent co-worker contact; occasional working alone.Available to response to emergency calls; work weekend and or holidays.Available to climb ladders/stairs up to heights in excess of 100'Working conditionsWork is performed in a typical outdoor environment subject to street or field noise and environment including loud exposure to loud equipment and machinery. Some duties involve working in a typical temperature-controlled office environment subject to typical office noise and environment. Position may require work outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays.
