Production Supervisor - Structural Steel DivisionWe are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead shop operations in a structural steel fabrication environment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate shop personnel including machine operators, fitters, welders, and shipping/receivingReview shop drawings for accuracy and compliance with standardsPartner with Quality Control and Production Management to address deficiencies and ensure qualityEnforce safety standards; conduct orientations and weekly toolbox talksTrain employees on fabrication methods, performance standards, and safety proceduresMonitor production schedules, manpower, and time tracking; communicate issues to managementIdentify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and product qualityTrack production progress and report delays, material issues, or schedule impactsParticipate in weekly production meetings and daily coordination with managementCollaborate with internal teams and occasionally with customersQualifications7–10 years of supervisory or lead experience in structural steel fabrication (columns, beams, bracing, trusses)Strong knowledge of methods, materials, shop equipment, and safety practices of the fabrication processComprehensive knowledge of AISC and AWS standardsAbility to read and interpret shop drawings and technical documents (sketches, diagrams, drawings, etc.)Strong communication and leadership skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office, Tekla EPM, and BluebeamRequired Skills:Ability to read/write/speak EnglishHigh school diploma or GEDValid driver's license and reliable transportationAbility to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physical shop dutiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamWillingness to work overtime as neededMust pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background checkBenefits:Competitive salary (based on experience)Health, dental, and life insurance (includes vision)401(k) with employer match/profit sharingFull-time, 1st shift (Monday–Friday + overtime as needed)Paid vacation and holidaysShepard Steel Co., Inc. is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer
