Production Supervisor

Production Supervisor – 2nd ShiftWe are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead second-shift manufacturing operations in Grand Rapids, Michigan.This is a hands-on floor leadership position responsible for approximately 25–30 production employees and one Team Leader. The Production Supervisor will oversee daily production activities, staffing, safety, quality, productivity, and shift performance while working closely with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and other plant departments.The ideal candidate has previous leadership experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Experience within automotive manufacturing, plastics, injection or blow molding, painting/coatings, automated production, or a unionized facility is highly desirable.ScheduleMonday–Friday, 2nd ShiftProduction hours are approximately 2:20 p.m.–11:00 p.m. Supervisors should be available before and after the scheduled shift as operational needs require.ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise approximately 25–30 production employees and one Team Leader.Provide visible, hands-on leadership throughout the production floor.Assign employees and resources based on daily production requirements.Monitor production output, quality, scrap, rework, downtime, staffing, and material usage.Ensure production schedules and performance objectives are achieved.Conduct shift start-up meetings and communicate production priorities and expectations.Maintain an effective handoff between first, second, and third shifts.Train, coach, and develop production employees and Team Leaders.Address attendance, performance, safety, and workplace issues consistently.Promote compliance with plant safety procedures and applicable environmental and workplace requirements.Work with Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to resolve production, equipment, and quality issues.Support troubleshooting of automated production equipment, conveyors, robotics, sensors, and related systems.Maintain accurate production, attendance, quality, and shift documentation.Support Lean manufacturing, 5S, root-cause problem solving, and continuous-improvement initiatives.Help improve safety, quality, productivity, workflow, and overall plant performance.QualificationsPrevious production supervisory or team leadership experience within manufacturing.Experience leading production employees and being accountable for shift performance.Strong hands-on floor leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.Ability to organize staffing and production priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Working knowledge of production metrics, quality, downtime, scrap, labor planning, and continuous improvement.High school diploma or equivalent required.Ability to work the full second-shift schedule.Preferred ExperienceCandidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:Automotive manufacturing or automotive partsPlastics manufacturingInjection molding or blow moldingIndustrial painting, coatings, finishing, or paint-line operationsUnion manufacturing environmentsAutomated manufacturing linesRobotics, conveyors, sensors, or PLC-controlled production equipmentLean manufacturing and 5SCompensation & Benefits$60,000–$65,000 annual salary, depending on experienceStraight-time overtime compensation after 45 hours workedBenefits beginning on day one401(k) with 6% employer matchThree weeks of annual vacation from date of hire14 paid holidaysCareer advancement opportunities with a growing manufacturerThis is an excellent opportunity for a manufacturing leader who enjoys being on the production floor, developing employees, solving operational problems, and improving production performance.
