Production SupervisorBrookshire, TXOverviewThe Production Supervisor is responsible for the direct oversight, supervision, training, development, and support of our production and material handling employees. They are also responsible for providing oversight, guidance, support, and indirect supervision for shift maintenance support staff. The production supervision duties are mostly hands-on and direct in nature and require that substantial time be spent on the plant floor working closely and directly with all shift employees.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safety of employees and visitors, the quality of products, efficient utilization of labor, and operation of equipment, technical problem solving, elimination of waste, and continuous improvement.Essential Functions & Key ResponsibilitiesEnsures shift employees are following safe work practices and procedures consistently; completely, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GPM)Audits for compliance and addresses safety issues in a timely mannerUnderstand Union labor agreement and Durobag policies to communicate and enforce effectivelyHolds shift start-up meeting to communicate shift goals and engage employeesManage Adjuster Supervisors to provide adequate support and training to machine operatorsReport daily production, runtime and waste recordsWorks safely and is proactively involved in plant safety improvement effortsConducts safety and job function training for shift personnelTrains employees in proper procedures, coaches them to improve results, and evaluates performanceDevelop employees to promote career opportunities and succession planningTroubleshoots and resolves process, equipment and material issues in conjunction with machine operators and support personnelInterprets work orders and specifications to shift employees, as necessaryLeads and/or assists shift employees in problem resolutionLeads or supports efforts to determine root cause and develop corrective actionsStudies and understands production schedule and deploys available labor and other resourcesSpot checks product quality and ensures specifications are being metRecommends measures to improve safety, production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and reduction of wasteSuggests changes in procedures, labor utilization, use of equipment, and materials to increase efficiency of plant, shift, department or work cellInitiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goalsDouble-checks, ensures accuracy, and finalizes production paperwork including production reports, work order documentation, safety and sanitation documents, quality records, finished goods tickets, etc.Maintains employee time clock information and submits to plant Human Resources for payroll processingCoordinates labor needs with plant Human ResourcesInterprets and enforces company policies, rules and regulations to employeesCommunicates regularly and effectively with in-coming and off-going shift leaders about issues occurring on previous, current or following shiftCommunicates effectively and appropriately at the necessary frequency with subordinates, peers and superiorsActs as a change agent and champion for Durobag to implement process improvementPerforms activities of employees supervised, as neededAdministers disciplinary actions consistently and according to company policyAll other projects and duties, as assignedRequirementsBachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S. in Industrial Management) not required but preferredMinimum of 5 years of successful production supervision experience preferably in a manufacturing environmentBilingual in Spanish-EnglishProficient in Microsoft Office, with the willingness and ability to learn new systemsAbility to work independently with minimum supervision to complete job tasksResourceful problem solver with proven ability to bring quick resolution to challenging situationsTeam player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with hourly employees, management, and peersAbility to effectively communicate information both verbally and in writingAbility to speak effectively before groups of employees, customers or suppliersAbility to stand for long periods of time, 12 hours or moreAbility to lift, push or carry up to 25lbsAbility to work in warm environmentsHearing and vision ability to identify machine mechanics and work in noisy environmentCompensationA reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,000 - $85,000 + bonus + benefits.
