The Production Manager is responsible for Managing the workforce to ensure the production of lime or stone meets or exceeds specifications. Participate in safety training.  Ensure that preventive action is taken to avoid nonconformities relating to product, process or the quality system.  Participate in the coordination of repairs during outages to maintain a safe and effective flow of work to reduce downtime.Responsibilities  (main areas of responsibilities of the position)Provide leadership to ensure all company safety rules and regulations in accordance with regulatory agencies are observed by employees.

 This includes planning the necessary resources in manpower and budgeting to accomplish site safety goals  and administer safety initiatives. Interface with regulatory agencies as requiredEnsure quality of product during process and adjust production plans to meet customer requirementsManage overtime requirements to meet sales, production and maintenance requirementsActively participate in the weekly scheduling meeting between maintenance and productionProvide technical and tactical support to the Maintenance Team, Engineer and Production SupervisorsEnsure the execution of the daily production plan.  Explains significant variances from the plan and provides leadership for improvements within the operations groupsUses the production modules under the SAP systemEnsure operations personnel perform quality workParticipate in the daily morning production meeting to communicate with production and maintenanceOversee necessary arrangements to keep plant running during breakdownsProvide feedback to the maintenance team to support operational objectivesProvide feedback to the operation team on goals and expectations statusQualified candidates will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mining, Business or related field2+ years Manager experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environment; previous experience as department manager or superintendent for larger facilities would also be a fit; industry background in manufacturing related to mining, paper mills, steel plants, refractory, heavy equipment fabrication, stone processing, cement plants, etc. preferredExtensive knowledge and background in operations supply chain business processes, continuous manufacturing and production processes, and working contemporary concepts of continuous improvement and Lean ManufacturingPositive & proactive attitude with ability to address issues and implement solutionsDemonstrable success in cultural 'turn around' a plusProven in leading operational excellence through applying behavior based managementPrior experience demonstrating effective management skillsDemonstrable team work and maturity with a strong work ethicFluency in spoken and written EnglishKnowledge:Knowledge of operational management Knowledge of people management skills and working in a union environmentExperience in mining and/or heavy manufacturing industryTechnical  credibility as it relates to industry, with a preference on mining and kilnsDemonstrated ability to assess organizational and people issues, provide coaching and mentoring, and deliver solutions that improve facility performanceSkills:Demonstrate ability to lead in a peer environment without an authoritarian rolePossess skills in system, project and people management and oversee various actives while motivating and guiding others to accomplish common goalDemonstrate ability to facilitate a team in achieving their goals through facilitation and leadershipDemonstrate conceptual thinking, with the skill to see the big picture and understanding the wider knowledge in context with the organization’s strategyAbility to maintain positive and responsive interpersonal relationshipsAbility to work collaboratively with other departmentsMentors others and delegates tasks while being responsible to othersOrganization and facilitation skills;
