Production Machine Operator (2nd Shift)As a Production Machine Operator, you will prepare and assemble steel materials used in large-scale construction projects while operating production machinery and rotating through multiple tasks. You will receive hands-on training, work in a fast-paced setting, and contribute directly to meeting production and quality goals in a safety-focused environment.ResponsibilitiesPrepare, cut, and process steel materials used in construction assemblies according to specifications.Operate production machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, with training provided.Rotate between various production tasks to support workflow, maintain productivity, and enhance team efficiency.Assemble components and materials using hand tools and power tools as required.Use measuring tools, such as tape measures, to verify dimensions and ensure product accuracy.Assist with general production activities, including packing, material handling, and basic fabrication tasks.Support tasks related to construction-style work such as framing, carpentry-related duties, saw operation, yard work, and site cleanup as needed.Monitor equipment during operation and report any mechanical or safety issues promptly.Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area, following all workplace safety procedures.Work closely with teammates to meet daily production targets and quality standards.Participate in overtime as required, including extended shifts and occasional Saturday work.Essential SkillsPrevious experience working in manufacturing, production, or a similar hands-on role is preferred.Experience performing or willingness to perform fast-paced, physically demanding work.Ability to operate or learn to operate production machinery, such as shears, press machines, and related equipment.Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical equipment.Ability to read and use a tape measure and other basic measuring tools.Capability to perform general labor tasks, including lifting, moving, and handling materials throughout the shift.Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a production team.Positive attitude with a willingness and eagerness to learn new tasks and processes.Flexibility to work 2nd shift and to perform mandated overtime, including 10-hour shifts and occasional Saturdays.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with general production work, including packing and basic assembly.Experience in construction, framing, carpentry, or similar trades.Experience with saw operation, fabrication, yard work, or site cleanup.Familiarity with machine operation in a manufacturing or industrial setting.Comfort working in a non-climate controlled environment that can become very warm.Reliability in adhering to posted schedules and overtime requirements.Why Work Here?Employees benefit from a union position that offers excellent benefits, weekly bonus opportunities, and additional incentives such as monthly safety drawings and prizes. You will initially train on 1st shift for approximately 1 to 4 weeks, then transition to a regular 2nd shift schedule. The base 2nd shift runs from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM Monday through Thursday and from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM on Friday, with a shift differential for off-shift work. Mandated overtime is posted in advance, and you must be open to 10-hour shifts, occasional Saturday work, and extended availability from approximately 3:00 PM to 2:30 AM when overtime is required. The environment is fast-paced and production-focused, with frequent use of machinery, hand tools, and power tools, and requires adherence to safety protocols and appropriate industrial work attire.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, MO.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $32.00/hr.
