The impact you'll make in this role:
As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Working closely with R&D, manufacturing, quality & regulatory to lead management of change projects (CMPs) such as raw material and manufacturing qualifications to support and grow the business.
- Verifying and documenting product specifications, test methods and control plans for new and existing products.
- Conducting product claims testing and documenting test results via claim substantiation process in PLM.
- Determining root cause of product quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Interacting closely with key internal and external manufacturers and suppliers to deliver high-quality retail products.
- Providing technical input to Business team and technical reports on key activities.
Your skills and expertise:
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science based curriculum
- Two (2) years of experience in a private, public, healthcare, academic, government or military environment in one or more of the following areas: new product introduction, project engineering, product engineering, product development, and/or research laboratory supporting medical devices or chemistry-based product lines.
- Experience with regulated products (e.g., FDA), healthcare-related products, and/or other medical devices
- Strong communication, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.
- Skills include: product and process understanding (e.g., coating & slitting), scale-up/manufacturing experience, and using appropriate tools (e.g., Minitab, statistics)
Work location:
- This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week in Maplewood, MN
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

The expected compensation range for this position is $98,964 - $120,957, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
