Role Summary
The Product Engineer II creates product design concepts, 3D models, and detailed drawings for R&D programs focused on military armor, blast-attenuating seats, aircraft components, and infrastructure security technologies. This role oversees the full development lifecycle, including product prototyping, integration, testing (ballistic, blast, drop tower), and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
* Product Design: Design, develop, and detail new technologies and products using SolidWorks. Maintain legacy production products.
* Prototyping & Testing: Assist with component procurement, prototype assembly, integration, and functional/ballistic/blast/drop-tower testing.
* Technical Documentation: Author design reviews, trade studies, test plans/reports, and requirement tracking files.
* Proposal Support: Assist engineering and commercial teams with bid and proposal efforts.
Qualifications
Required
* Education & Experience: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with 5-10 years of product development experience.
* CAD & BOM: High proficiency in SolidWorks and strong project/Bill of Materials (BOM) management skills.
* Drafting Standards: ASME Y14.5 certification with expert knowledge of ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5 drawing and GD&T standards.
* Design Principles: Deep understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
Preferred
* Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME).
* Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP).
* DoD product development experience in ground combat, marine, or aircraft platforms.
* 3+ years of hands-on experience working with composite materials.
