Solution EngineerSolution engineer will be responsible for architecting, designing, implementing, testing, and documenting of Cisco Validated Designs (CVD) for Virtualization with Hitachi hardware and software. The candidate will design and build robust test automation frameworks as well as extend existing frameworks to establish a common quality process for software and infrastructure design. The solution engineer will partner with Cisco to deliver Virtualization solutions on Cisco UCS and Hitachi storage/software.Job Functions:Design, implement, test, and document Cisco Validated Design for VMware with Cisco UCS and Hitachi storage/softwareOptimization and automation of Hitachi Cisco Validated Design for VMware infrastructure processesDefine, develop, implement and maintain test cases for various hardware and dynamic infrastructure components lifecycleWrite moderately complex code/scripts to test dynamically provisioned and configured infrastructure resourcesWork with partner to properly set test (and performance) goals.
After agreement, develop, review and execute test plan. Debug issues as they come up. Testing can be done within the Hitachi Vantara lab environment or an outside lab if appropriateSupport, assist, and consult with all levels of Hitachi Vantara, including Account Executives, Product Management, Product Marketing, Product Support, VP, etc, through delivery of technical presentations and reportsResponsible for ongoing recommendations and best practices for Cisco CVD Virtualization solutions around business continuity, high availability, backup, recovery and archivingResponsible for ongoing management of configuration and layout of lab solution infrastructurePrimary Qualifications:Technical Skills:Software development experience in design, coding, unit testing and system testing of integration solutions or software appliancesCoding experience (in Python, Perl, PHP, shell, etc) to automate test scriptsExcellent knowledge in enterprise virtualization solutions using VMware vSphere.
VMware Certified Engineer preferredGood hands on experience with Hitachi storage and storage knowledge in RAID, disk-subsystem, file system, snapshot, replication and deduplicationExperience with other virtualization technologies such as RedHat KVM, Microsoft Hyper-V as well as Containers and container orchestration (Dockers, Kubernetes, Mesos) is a plusAdvanced problem solving skillsExperience coding to product API is a plusGeneral Skill:A team player and fast technology adoption is a mustExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent problem solver and ability to work independentlyExcellent internal and external customer skills.
