Our team owns the Word-based contract-workflow experience end to end: fast redlines, playbook automation, clause-level analysis, and the UX lawyers rely on every day for high-stakes work.We operate as a focused, senior, high-output group inside Filevine. We move quickly, ship directly into Word and the browser, and define how AI shows up across the contract lifecycle for thousands of legal teams. Design is central to everything we do.
Lawyers notice every detail, and their trust depends on the quality and clarity of the experience we build.ResponsibilitiesTalk to customers, sit in on review sessions, and map real workflowsTranslate ambiguous product requirements into clear flows, UI patterns, and prototypesDesign and implement UI surfaces across Word add-ins and the web appBuild high-fidelity mocks that communicate ideas quickly to founders and engineersWrite production-quality React and TypeScript to improve UX without waiting on engineeringDefine and maintain the design system, visual language, and interaction patternsSimplify multi-step legal workflows into intuitive, compact interfacesValidate ideas directly with users and iterate quickly based on feedbackIdentify UX gaps, propose changes, and drive them from concept to shipped featureQualificationsDeep product taste and strong user empathyExperience designing for constrained interfaces (plugins, iOS, add-ins, extensions)Ability to run lightweight research: user interviews, workflow mapping, usability testsStrong frontend engineering skills in React/TypeScriptExperience owning both design and engineering for a feature end to endAbility to create polished mocks and prototypes without a dedicated designerComfort working in a fast-moving environment with incomplete inputsBias toward action: you see something broken, you fix itBonus: experience with AI products, legal workflows, or highly technical interfacesWhat You'll Work On:Redesigning the Word add-in pane to reduce vertical layers and improve action discoverabilityMapping user contract-review workflows and turning them into cleaner UI flowsBuilding a new design system that brings consistency to actions, drawers, modals, and toolbarsPrototyping a small-screen version of a complex playbook editorSimplifying the view: progress bars, action bars, multi-document navigationImproving the UI/UX based on customer interviewsDesigning and implementing an updated clause-analysis UX with fewer steps and clearer decisionsCompensation Information: $120,000 - $160,000 baseThe base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. The total compensation package for this position will be determined by each individual's location, qualifications, education, work experience, skills and performance.
