By collaborating with other product development groups across Apple, you'll push the industry boundaries of what batteries can do and improve the product experience for our customers around the world! As the NPI Mechanical/Product Design resource for our systems; we own module development from initial system architecture through ramp. In this role you will apply your mechanical design engineering skills and ability to lead the end-to-end mechanical development and integration of innovative modules into next generation Apple products.The Battery Pack Product Design team is responsible for the mechanical design and integration of battery packs into Apple products. In this role, you will design a battery pack, optimizing across teams including outside vendors and internal experts to realize creative solutions and validate designs.ResponsibilitiesCreative problem solving including spatial reasoning, optimization to find best solution to design challenges, attention to detailEngineering fundamentals are applied in design analysisDesigns realized through tolerance analysis, design for assembly/manufacturing, design reviews and cross functional optimizationCommunicate designs through detailed, cross functional design reviewsDrive failure analyses and design of experiments (DOEs) to develop design solutions and implement corrective actionsRelease of drawings and revision controlsTravel up to 20% throughout the yearMinimum QualificationsBS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or relatedExperience with 3D CADPreferred Qualifications3 years relevant industry experienceMaster's degree or equivalent job-related experience in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentAbility to generate innovative designs with multi-functional teams, including detailed written specifications, drawings, and tolerance analyses.Experience in Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, or statistical tolerance analysis techniquesClear and concise communication skills for technical status of projects cross functionally and throughout management structure.
High degree of motivation, curiosity, and attention to detailDemonstrated ability to deliver to product timelinesExperience in design cycle from concept through MP with high-volume manufacturing processes and/or automation, including design validation and characterizationAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $144,600 and $263,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
