Product Design EngineerLocation: Austin, TX or Fremont, CA or Sparks, NevadaCandidate can be open to work from any three locationKey job responsibilities:Deliver technical designs of vehicle packaging and material handling that are optimized for weight, precision, manufacturing, durability and velocityPerform CAD, FEA, and durability simulation of concept designs, recommend physical prototype candidates, and execute testingConduct technical design reviews and ensure compliance to standards (ASTM, ISTA, etc.)Deliver finished designs, detailed drawings, and engineering specifications to be used for supplier bidding and complianceResearch and implement new techniques and technologies, including materials to continually improve vehicle packaging capabilityParticipate in supplier evaluations to ensure technical deliverables can be achievedPartner with engineering teams in design, manufacturing, material flow, and packaging projects to develop design methodology, functional requirements, and execute concept through buy-offWhat You’ll BringDegree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability5+ years of experience designing mechanical components and systems from concept through production validation. Emphasis on Plastics design/manufacturing experience skillset.Strong working capability with CAD and CAE simulation (CATIA, Pro-Engineer, ANSYS, etc.)Able to deliver designs with datum structure, GD&T and accurate tolerance stack up analysisFamiliar with design for manufacturing (DFM) and different manufacturing processes including machining, welding, injection molding etc.Working knowledge of a large variety of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, foam, etc.
