This is a Student Co-op position located in Saginaw, MI. This position supports software development and verification activities of the Customer Feature Team.
This role provides hands-on experience contributing to embedded software for Electronic Power Steering (EPS), Steer-by-Wire, and other advanced automotive systems.Responsibilities include:Support embedded software feature development spanning multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical systems, electrical hardware, software, and controls for Electronic Power Steering and Steer-by-Wire systemsAssist in implementing and maintaining embedded software functions that meet customer and system requirementsAssist in designing, implementing, and unit testing embedded software using C and model-based development techniques, including Simulink and Simulink Embedded Coder, for automotive microcontrollersDevelop productivity and efficiency improvement solutions for the Customer Feature Team by creating scripts (e.g., Python, MATLAB, SQL, Groovy, etc.)Collaborate with the team to support Artificial Intelligence (AI) objectives, including automation and AI-enabled engineering workflowsSupport debugging, analysis, and resolution of hardware/software integration issuesDevelop and maintain technical documentation in compliance with Automotive SPICE processesParticipate in software and design reviews and collaborate with verification teams across SiL, PiL, HiL, and vehicle-level testing to evaluate new software features.Requirements:Candidate must be attending a 4-year university local to SaginawCandidate must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer ScienceCandidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters Up to 40 in the summerMust have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scaleMust be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semestersCandidate must have an interest in embedded software, control systems, and automotive applicationsCandidate must have exposure to or interest in structured programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Python, Java, etc.)Candidate must have exposure to or interest in model-based design (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, Unreal Engine, etc.)Candidate must have exposure to or interest in embedded systems and 8-bit, 16-bit, or 32-bit microcontrollersCandidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skillsCandidate must have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environmentCandidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)Candidate must have excellent communication, documentation Skills and attention to detailThis position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization.
