Procurement Manager

Aegis is seeking a qualified Procurement Manager to join our client's organization in Chicago, IL.

This individual will play a key role in managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, overseeing purchasing activities, and supporting multiple business units. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in industrial purchasing, hands-on leadership experience, and the ability to identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes and reduce costs.

This is a highly collaborative position that requires someone comfortable working with leadership teams, maintenance departments, and manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or warehouse/stores management within a manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years of management or leadership experience, with demonstrated success working cross-functionally.
• Experience in steel, metals, machining, heavy industrial manufacturing, or a related industry.
• Strong understanding of maintenance procurement, industrial equipment, machinery, and MRO purchasing.
• Proven negotiation, supplier relationship management, and contract management experience.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of inventory management practices, including cycle counting, ABC analysis, safety stock, and Kanban.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate purchasing data, calculate savings, and implement cost-reduction strategies.
• Ability to work in both an office and manufacturing environment, collaborating directly with plant operations.
• Valid passport and willingness to travel internationally approximately 1–2 times per quarter, with additional travel as needed.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting purchasing activities across multiple business units or international manufacturing operations.
